If you find that year after year you make a New Year's Resolution only to realize that by March you've already grown tired of the effort, willpower and time commitment, then maybe it's time to consider a sankalpa instead.

How are they different?  A sankalpa helps us to tune in to our deepest heartfelt desires and goals; those ideas, thoughts and feelings that bring us closer to becoming the person we know we are meant to be.

Forming your sankalpa requires some time spent in quiet reflection. It's only then that you can really start to hear and listen to our deepest longings.  To get you started, ask yourself the following questions and listen carefully for the answers that arise:
  • How would I like to experience my life?
  • What do I want?
  • What will my life look like when I get what I want?
  • What prevents me from having the life that I want?
  • What weighs me down?
  • How will I FEEL when I get what I want?
When forming your sankalpa, create a short, positive, present tense statement.  Generally, we use I AM statements.  Play around with the wording until it feels just right and then repeat it daily!  Use it as a point of reflection during meditation, yoga, savasana and most importantly, Yoga Nidra.

I've been remiss in updating changes in teachers!  

Jessica's Wednesday 9am Slow Flow class is being taught by Marca Hiller until after the holidays.  Check out Marca's calm, soothing style!

Lisa has returned to Yoga 2 on Saturdays at 8am and is temporarily covering the Saturday 9:30am All Levels Class until we find a replacement.

Suzy has moved to Sunday morning Yoga 2 at 8am.

There are more class/teacher changes than usual through the holiday season, so please be sure to check the online schedule!
