We are excited about the release of our newest Vera List Art Project commission by the renowned artist Barbara Kruger.  The print entitled Culture Vulture is the latest edition expressly created to commemorate the Project’s 50th Anniversary.

Incorporating her trademark black and white text to evoke received ideas, Kruger drew inspiration for this bold print from Lincoln Center’s status as one of the world’s premier performing arts centers.  The print, which measures 17.5 x 17 inches, features a textural background to set off the type and heavy-weight paper to bring the words to life.  Each print is hand-stamped and pencil numbered on the verso by Kruger, as is customary for her prints.  Click here to view a short video in which the highly regarded printer Jacob Samuel discusses working with Kruger to produce this piece.

A collaboration with The New School’s Vera List Center for Art and Politics, MIT’s List Visual Arts Center and Artspace

In conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of the Vera List Art Project, Artspace will be releasing an exclusive set of prints in collaboration with other Vera List Partners including MIT and The New School.  While each cultural institution has a different arts program created by the philanthropist Vera List, all have come together to offer a portfolio of benefit edition works for sale from some of the world’s best known artists.  The portfolio will include limited edition prints from Dan Graham, Matt Mullican, Sarah Morris, Paul Ramirez-Jonas, Fred Tomaselli, and Fred Wilson.  Editions from these six artists’ works will be available for sale at Artspace and the proceeds will benefit The Vera List Programs at Lincoln Center, MIT and The New School.

A collaboration with the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts

September 19, 2012 – January 5, 2013
In 1962, Lincoln Center initiated a program to commission posters by prominent artists for the then newly-built performing arts complex.  The brainchild of philanthropist Vera List and her husband, the poster program expanded in 1970 to include limited-edition, signed and numbered fine art prints.  This exhibition presents a selection of posters and prints from the program’s past 50 years by renowned artists Helen Frankenthaler, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Motherwell, Robert Rauschenberg, and Andy Warhol, among others.  Read More.
