For art-loving boys who are going in to, or are currently enrolled in Middle School.  Artist Dan Groth will teach collage and assemblage; Michael Darmody, an artist and instructor at San Juan College, will share how to design and build bristol board castles; Ed Bolster will teach perspective drawing; and DAC Applause Director, Jason Lythgoe, will facilitate theatre games.

Voice, Acting, Movement (VAM)         


August 1–12 (Mon-Fri), 9-11:45am
$200 DAC Members / $225 Non-Members

Students will creatively explore the theatrical elements of Voice, Acting and Movement, culminating in a short performance for family and friends on August 12.

Mud Making

Ages 6–8, 9am–noon

Students will create tile murals, fish wind chimes, dragons, monster bowls and self-portraits out of clay in this fun "play-with-mud" class.

Monty Python’s Spamalot Young@Part

Performed by children ages 11-15

Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, this Junior version of Spamalot retells the legend of King Arthur, his ever-faithful squire Patsy and the knights that accompany him on his quest for the Holy Grail.  

AND... Special pre-show performances by Wee Glee, ages 4-6

The Durango Arts Center and Macaroni Kid Durango are excited to present multi award-winning singer/songwriter Joanie Leeds for a solo children’s concert and sing-a-long in the DAC Theater. Brooklyn-based Leeds has performed for thousands of families across the country and received numerous awards and accolades. Don't miss this special event!

Contemporary Indigo Textiles by Rowland Ricketts  


August 12-September 18

Best known for his bold graphic designs, Rowland Ricketts utilizes natural indigo dyes and centuries-old processes to create dynamic textiles unlike any other fiber artist of his generation.  For his exhibit at DAC, work time, Ricketts will design a large-scale installation of new works that will layer throughout the floor and ceiling of the Barbara Conrad Gallery, transforming the exhibition space into a unique textile experience.
