It is February and technically still Winter.  I think we can all agree that we certainly haven't had much of the Winter weather we typically get here in Clarksville. Because it has been such a mild Winter, it has me thinking about Spring and Summer already.  New yarns have been ordered and will be arriving over the next few months that will inspire your warmer weather knitting and crocheting.  Stay tuned to learn about all the new arrivals!

I wanted to share a blog post that I come across a few weeks ago.  Although not written by a yarn store owner, the blogger definitely has a good feel for what it is like to own and operate a small business in a "niche" market.  The writer has expressed very articulately the benefits of having and supporting a LYS (Local Yarn Store).  I hope you will take the time to read her post here:  http://www.spinfoolish.com/local-yarn-store/

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has continued to support Yarn Asylum through the never-ending road construction in front of the shop.  We are very much aware of how much of an inconvenience it has been and are also more than ready to have it complete.

The entrance to the parking lot has been moved and that can make it difficult to see as you approach the shop.  The entrance is now at the end of the parking lot as opposed to the middle.  Currently, there are construction barrels on either side of the entrance.  Since these barrels also line the roadway, spotting the entrance is a challenge.  If you are heading away from Clarksville on 41-A (Madison Street), the entrance is just before the first set of mailboxes for the shopping center and the utility pole.  If you miss the entrance, you can turn into the Agricultural Center next door and come through their parking lot and down into ours.

Come join us during Group Therapy for some fun social sharing.  We have two meetings each week.
Wednesday mornings, we meet from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Thursday evenings, we meet from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Bring your current project and enjoy the company of other fiber addicts.
This is not an instructional time and there is no charge to attend.

I am always open for ideas & suggestions on ways to improve Yarn Asylum.  Please feel free to email me with your ideas for classes, workshops, KAL's & CAL's.  Tell me what you would like to see in the shop!

Until next time -
Penny

Friday Night Fiber Fun at Yarn Asylum

Come knit with us on Friday evenings! Starting on Friday, February 24, 2017, we will meet each Friday evening to work on a new project together. This class/workshop will provide instruction and encouragement to all!

Our first project will be the Harvest Cardigan by Tin Can Knits. This cardigan is one of the patterns in their Simple Collection. If you have never knitted a sweater or garment before, this is a perfect first choice! Even if you are a proficient knitter, you are sure to learn something new.

The pattern includes 7 child sizes (0-6 months to 8-10 years) and 10 adult sizes (XS to 4XL). This is definitely a project for everyone!
Join us as we cast on and work together through each step. We will be here to help you with any problems you encounter along the way.

The cost of the Harvest Cardigan Workshop is just $10.00 per session. We will meet each Friday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

We ask that you purchase your materials for the workshop from Yarn Asylum. We will provide a printed copy of the pattern for all participants.

Come in early to pick out your yarn! This will allow us to order the necessary yardage in the color & yarn of your choice if it is not already in stock.

This will be an ongoing Workshop. When the Harvest Cardigan is complete - we will all vote on our next project!

At Yarn Asylum, we are always adding new classes to our calendar.
