I want to say thanks to everyone who came out to support Yarn Asylum during my Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS research.  Because of your loyalty and the generous donations from others, I am sending a check to the ALS Association for $350.00!  It was well worth having a bucket of ice water poured over my head for that!

While on the subject of charities, please check out the September KAL and CAL information.  I am very excited to be a part of this contribution to patients who are undergoing chemotherapy.  Let's show them how much we care!

We continue to receive shipments of new yarns for Fall and Winter knitting and crocheting.  Mr. Ed says we are running out of places to put yarn.  I have found lots of places to stuff skeins!  Please be careful when opening cabinet doors or the freezer.  You never know what is going to fall out!

Next month, we will celebrate our 1 year anniversary!  It is hard for me to believe - the time has just flown by.  Of course, we couldn't be here without YOU.  To show our appreciation, we are planning a weekend of fun celebration.  There will be door prizes, giveaways and sales!  Stay turned for more information.

Until next time...

September KAL & CAL

Our Knit-A-Long and Crochet-A-Long for September is hats, hats, and more hats!  We are preparing for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.  Yarn Asylum will be sponsoring a collection of Chemo Hats to be delivered to TN Oncology at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
During the month of October, for every chemo hat that you bring in to donate, you will receive an entry towards a drawing for a gift certificate to Yarn Asylum.  Hats that are made using yarn purchased at Yarn Asylum will receive two entries!
Stay tuned for more information!
To maximize the number of donations and to give everyone time to contribute, we have decided to knit and crochet hats throughout September!
I am including some links to popular patterns, but there are no restrictions.  Use a pattern that you have or another that you like!

As many of you have noticed, I have not been seen at the Yarn Asylum very much during the past month.  That doesn't mean I don't know what is going on there.  You might see pretty skeins of yarn hanging on the walls, but some of them just might have some surveillance cameras and microphones in them.  Rest assured that my allergies might keep me home physically, but I am still there with all of you!

Some of the things I have overheard:
"Wrap and turns should not be done in public."
"Where are the KitKat bars?"
"This place is conducive to creativity."

I really wish I could have been there for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Since that Director lady is always pouring water over my head in the tub, it would have been fun to watch someone doing it to her!

Because I have been home, I have lots of time to search Ravelry on my PawPad.  These are my latest finds and I am sure your canine friends would like one of these as much as I would:

I am adding this one just because I think cats should look silly.
