When:  Saturday, June 18,
2016 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

We will have two canopies set up in the parking lot for shade.  There will also be tables and some chairs.  Ed will be grilling hot dogs and there will be plenty of snacks and cold refreshments.

Just bring your current project - knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving or shop for a new one to begin!  If you have a chair to bring, it might come in handy.

In the case of inclement weather - we will move the festivities inside.

We promised you fun activities to make up for suspending Group Therapy for the summer.  Here is the first one on the list!
We are moving the fun to The Pottery Room on Thursday, June 30th
between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
Come out and make your own Yarn Bowl with us!

What is a Yarn Bowl?
It is a ceramic bowl with a slit or hole in the side.  You place your ball or skein of yarn in the bowl and feed the end through the slit.  This keeps your yarn in a decorative, secure and tidy place while you are knitting or crocheting!

At the Pottery Room, you will be able to choose the size of bowl you would like to make and decorate it to your own liking!  Paint it a solid color - or stripe it - or put on a design - you are only limited by your imagination.  Your creation will be unique and one of a kind!  No previous art experience is necessary!

Cost?  It depends on the size of the bowl you choose.  They have a small bowl for $16 and a larger one for $20.  This fee covers everything - the studio time, the paint/glaze and the firing in their kiln.  You will be able to pick up your completed creation in just a week!

Check out their website for more information and directions to their new location on Needmore Road here in Clarksville.

We do need to let them know how many people will be joining us - so they can have enough bowls in stock for everyone.  Please contact me at Yarn Asylum and let me know if you intend to participate!
It is not too early to start planning your Holiday gifts for this year.  Yarn Asylum is hosting a Christmas in July (and August, September, October, November & December) event!

Join us as we create a quick and easy project that is perfect for holiday gift giving.  Or choose to make it for yourself!

Here are some details:
Each month until Christmas, we will feature a different design in various categories - shawls, scarves, hats, cowls, etc. We will choose designs that we feel are simple enough for knitters of all levels.

We will also choose patterns that can be constructed with a variety of different yarns - so all budget levels are covered.
Patterns for all projects will be available at Yarn Asylum.  Some of them will be printed free with the purchase of your yarn.  There may be a small fee for some patterns (depending on the designer), but we will print them for free with the purchase of yarn and pattern.

Watch our Facebook page and our website as we announce the designs each month!  The project for July is detailed below.

Bonus!  All yarn purchased to complete the projects will be discounted 10% during the month the project is featured.  At the time of purchase, just let us know the project for which you are buying the yarn!

Another Bonus!  For all projects you complete using yarn purchased at Yarn Asylum - you will receive an entry into a special drawing.  At the end of December, we will draw one name and the lucky knitter will receive a $25.00 Gift Certificate to Yarn Asylum!
Please note that you do not have to complete the project in the month it is featured, but you must finish it before the end of the year in order to participate in the drawing.
Our first project for Christmas in July will be the Terraform shawl/wrap.
The designer of this versatile garment is Cheri McEwen and she has made the pattern available for free on Ravelry.
Here is the description she provides:

'Terraform is a textured shawl that can be made to any size. It is asymmetrical and can be worn in a multitude of ways. It can be wrapped, twisted, and draped to compliment just about any outfit!! Wear it like a cowl, drape it like a bandana, or just throw it over one shoulder to give a pop of color.

Instructions are included for several options. Want to use beads? It can be done. Don’t want to have to work any yarn overs? Gotcha covered! Wanna stripe it? Not a problem!!! I have included both written and charted instructions. Want some company while you knit? Stop by my group: Dartfrog Designs This will become a “go to” pattern for gift giving. It is great for using up those beautiful skeins of yarn that we are all guilty of picking up.'

We have a completed sample of this pattern at Yarn Asylum.  It was knitted using the new yarn by Vice Yarns called Blurred Lines.  It is a beautiful hand-dyed gradient yarn with bold and vibrant colors.

Other yarn suggestions:  Berroco Folio Color, Queensland Sunshine Coast or Uluru, Lang Jawoll Magic, Berroco Sox or any of your favorite fingering weight yarns.

Yarn Asylum is thrilled to announce that we are going to be introducing the CustomFit Program by Amy Herzog to the shop!
Whether you are an experienced garment knitter or ready to make your first one - this program is designed for YOU!
Imagine having a pattern written to YOUR measurements and using YOUR gauge and whatever yarn YOU choose!
Sounds great?  It is!
Look for more details about this program in the coming weeks!

Yarn Asylum has recently established a dealership agreement with Ashford Wheels and Looms.
What that means for you is that we will be able to provide you with all the fine Ashford products - including their wonderful selection of spinning wheels and looms!  The catalog can be found on our website.  This is in addition to the Schacht line we currently have.
If you have been considering a new spinning wheel or loom - please come see us!
We presently have a Weaver's Group that meets every other Sunday afternoon at Yarn Asylum.  We are expanding this group to include Spinners also!  All are invited - whether you already weave & spin or are just interested in more information!
Join our special Facebook group and stay up to date on what is happening.
One of our customers is selling her spinning wheel and it is an unbelievable bargain!  If you have been thinking about a wheel, don't miss this great opportunity.
This Schacht Matchless (Double Treadle) is a 2015 model and is in BRAND NEW condition.  It comes with a ton of accessories - making the whole package worth over $2,000.  She is only asking $1,099 for EVERYTHING!
The wheel is at Yarn Asylum and ready for you to take home today.  Feel free to drop by and take a look.

Store Policies:

  • We offer a Yarn Asylum Support Program. With each purchase, you receive a stamp on your card for every $20 you spend (excluding class fees, sale items and sales tax). When your Support Program card is full, you can redeem it for $20 off your next purchase.   While I try to remember to ask everyone if they have their card with them, it is your responsibility to remember to present it. Cards will not be stamped except at the time of purchase.
  • We are happy to answer customers brief knitting questions over the counter when time permits. If you need extensive help (more than 5 minutes), or you bought your yarn elsewhere, please sign up for one of our Drop In Clinics, or make an appointment for a private lesson.
  • Well-behaved children are always welcome at Yarn Asylum. It is your responsibility to watch your children at all times.
  • At this time, we do not have a policy prohibiting food and drinks at Yarn Asylum. (We have to eat here too!) We do ask that you limit these items to the table area and be courteous of other visitors and the inventory.
  • If you would like us to wind your yarn, just ask. We are pleased to offer complimentary winding services for all hanks of yarn purchased in our shop. Please remember that once we wind a skein for you, it isn’t returnable. If you aren’t sure if you’ll need all those skeins for your project, wind only one or two and bring the others back to be wound as needed. We only ask that you keep the original label on the unwound skein, so we know it was purchased at Yarn Asylum. Special events or sales mean that we may be too busy to wind your yarn at that particular time. Should this happen, you can always leave your yarn with us to be wound, and pick it up at another time. Or as stated above, just keep the original labels on the skeins and bring them in anytime to be wound.
  • We will wind certain yarn that is not purchased at Yarn Asylum for a fee of $2 per hank. Based on the condition of the yarn and the content, we reserve the right to determine if we will wind your yarn. Please note that we are not responsible for yarn purchased elsewhere if it is damaged by our ball winder.
  • Special orders requests are welcome, and we will do our best to accommodate them if possible. All special orders must be paid in advance. Additional shipping and handling fees may be required.

Return policy:

  • Unused yarn with original labels and receipt can be returned within 60 days for store credit or exchange. Yarn must be in its original condition. Yarn that has been wound, covered in pet hair and smelling like smoke or last night’s dinner is yours forever.
  • Knitting needles and crochet hooks are not returnable or exchangeable unless defective.
  • Final sale items include gift certificates, books, patterns, magazines, clearance and special order yarns/products.
