There are 16 (SIXTEEN) Fridays until Christmas!  Have you started your holiday knitting & crocheting yet?  I know some of you have and I am envious!  (I am still trying to determine if it is socially unacceptable to mail my Christmas cards from LAST year NOW.)
With the new Fall yarns arriving and the introduction of Weaving at Yarn Asylum, there are lots of ideas for projects.  Come in and get inspired today.
If you haven't checked out our new and improved website - give it a peek.  (Yarn Asylum)  We are trying to keep the calendar updated with classes and events there.  Postings will continue on our Facebook page also.

Until next time...

Chemo Caps

Last year - the generous knitters and crocheters of Yarn Asylum donated almost 200 chemo caps during September and October.  The hats were taken to TN Oncology at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville for distribution to their various centers.

We are going to do it again!  Bring in your knitted or crocheted hat and receive 1 ticket for each one donated.  Write your name and phone number on the back of the ticket and put it in our jar.  At the end of October, we will draw tickets and the winners will receive a gift certificate to Yarn Asylum!

Let's see if we can get more than 200 hats this year!!

Basic Guidelines:
Use your favorite pattern and yarn.  Any color and any size.

Donations from now until Saturday, October 31st will be included in the drawing.

For all hats made from yarn purchased at Yarn Asylum - you will receive 2 tickets for entry into the drawing!

Warped Weavers of Yarn Asylum

We are excited to announce that weaving is coming to Yarn Asylum!  If you are a weaver or want to become one - come join us as we learn more about this fascinating fiber craft.  We are meeting to learn, share and create.

Our next get-together is Sunday, September 13th at 4:00 pm.  Watch the website ( and our Facebook page for updates on meeting times.

We are expecting our first shipment of Schacht Rigid Heddle Looms and coned yarns from Valley Yarns.  If you need anything from either of these companies - check with me to see if it can be specially ordered for you!

National Alpaca Farm Day

Saturday, September 26th is National Alpaca Farm Day.  Terry Tobin is the owner of Tobin Family Farm where they raise alpacas right here in Clarksville.  (I am sure you have seen her beautiful alpaca yarns for sale at Yarn Asylum.)

The Tobins are opening their farm to the public in observance of this special day.  The event is free and a wonderful event for the entire family.

• Feel the alpaca fleece
• Tour the farm
• Experience live demonstrations
• Learn about raising and breeding alpacas
• Shop for alpaca products
• Enjoy a fun day at the farm for the whole family!

The farm is located at 840 Oak Plains Road, Clarksville, TN

More information will be posted soon about this upcoming event!

Yarn Asylum Group Therapy

If you are seeking a fun, friendly spot to hang out and knit or crochet - Yarn Asylum Group Therapy is just what the Doctor ordered!

Come sit around our big table and join other fiber fanatics as you work on your current project or get inspired to start another. The talk is lively and the enthusiasm is motivating.

Drop in and meet new friends.  Bring in your problem projects and get advice from other knitters and crocheters.  Show off your finished designs and let us all envy your accomplishments!   Learn some new techniques as we share and enjoy the social aspect of our hobby!

Group Therapy meets each Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm.

Remember that the table at the Asylum is always open for you to come in and enjoy some time to knit or crochet. Spend your lunch time getting in a few rows on that scarf or stop by on your way home from work to unwind for a bit.   Free WiFi is also available if you are having a momentary Ravelry withdrawal.

Yarn Asylum is happy to announce that we are able to provide you with in store pattern sales from Ravelry!  If there is a pattern that you must have, you can purchase it at Yarn Asylum and it will be delivered right into your personal library.
