Message from Mary

Starting June, I am stepping out of ownership from Yarn Asylum.

I will be spending more time with my family which I have missed.  Also I have been asked to take on full time hours at my "paying the bills and buying yarn" job.

I have met and made some wonderful friends through Yarn Asylum.  I will continue to teach classes and most of all support Penny and Ed as they work to grow the shop.  It's a wonderful place to spend time, learn new techniques and enjoy the company of the area's talented yarn enthusiasts.

See you at the Yarn Asylum.

I know that everyone joins me in wishing Mary the very best.  I am excited for her to be able to spend more time with her family and grand kids as she has missed them so much.  We know how quickly the little ones grow up.  I am certain we will see her frequently at Yarn Asylum - teaching and knitting at the table!

We have a lot of fun activities planned for June at Yarn Asylum.  Make and Takes.  Contests.  Baby Alpacas.  Oh my!

You will also start to see some new Fall lines of yarn arriving.  Watch us on Facebook for updates.

It is never too early to think about the holidays - so we are planning our Christmas in July festivities.

Until next time...

Owl Puffs

New residents have built a nest at Yarn Asylum and moved right on in!

Join us at Yarn Asylum on Saturday, June 28th or Sunday, June 29th for a FREE Make and Take!
Hours on Saturday are 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday 12 noon to 4 pm.

These adorable Owl Puffs are compact, easy to knit and require minimal care.

We will supply the pattern and all the materials necessary for you to create your own little hooter.

Just bring in your DPNs (double point needles) or a circular needle with a longer cable for Magic Loop.
June KAL

Our June KAL is A Noble Cowl.  A lovely lacy openwork pattern that is lightweight and perfect for summer when knit in a nice cotton yarn.  It can also be knit using a wool or blend for fall and winter use.

I am knitting mine using the Millamia Naturally Soft Merino.  It is knitting up very soft and with great stitch definition.

The pattern is free on Ravelry or you can pick up a printed copy at Yarn Asylum with the purchase of your yarn!

Alpaca Day!

Terry and Bill Tobin from Tobin Family Farms have a new addition to their alpaca herd!  Born on May 27th, this charming little guy has been christened "Sane".

Sane is coming to Yarn Asylum!  On Saturday, June 21, 2014 - Terry and Bill are going to bring him over to the shop.  This will be a great opportunity for you to come over and meet Terry, Bill and Sane and learn more about alpacas and their fleece.

We carry the exclusive line of natural alpaca yarns spun from Tobin Family Farms.  On Alpaca Day - June 21st - all of these yarns will be on SALE for 10% off!
No Mice at Yarn Asylum

Yarn Asylum has a new house cat!  For those of you with allergies, no worries!
This kitty is definitely hypoallergenic.

We do need a name for our new tabby!  This is where YOU come into the picture.
We are having a Name The Cat Contest!

Drop by the shop and meet our nameless feline during the month of June.  Fill out a slip of paper with your name suggestion and we will pick our favorite.  The winner will receive a $10 gift certificate to Yarn Asylum and the right to brag about it!

Use your imagination and be creative!

If you want to make your house cat, the pattern is available for free on Ravelry -  Window Cat.
