BlightStatus is now Civic Insight!

Eddie, Amir, and Alex here: you may know us as the team behind BlightStatus, the product we built in partnership with the City of New Orleans during our 2012 Code for America fellowship. Thanks to the fantastic reception of our launch in October 2012, we’ve formed a company to make our product available to municipalities nationwide.

BlightStatus is now Civic Insight

We’ve been hard at work expanding and improving our platform, and we want to make sure our name reflects all that our technology is truly capable of.

While Civic Insight will continue to provide meaningful, real-time status updates about blighted properties, we know the story doesn’t end there. What about when new construction begins on that formerly vacant lot, or when a business license is filed for that formerly empty storefront?

With Civic Insight, we’ll be exploring how information about additional civic processes like permitting and licensing can contribute to this larger story, and we’re building in more robust visualization and analysis tools to help citizens and government staff derive truly meaningful and actionable insight about the overall health and trajectory of their community.
Thanks, and stay tuned!
