Welcome to our March Newsletter
Welcome to the latest Scottish Fans & Supporters Direct Scotland Newsletter. Can you help us with researching supporters' views and opinions on kick-off times and fixture movements?

Following numerous incidents where the rescheduling of fixtures have caused much inconvenience and occasionally expense to supporters recently, we're conducting research into fans' opinions of kick-off times and the rescheduling of fixtures in order to develop comprehensive body of data which can be used to ensure fans' views are represented on the matter and hope this will lead to a positive outcome protecting supporters financially.

RANGERS FIRST LAUNCHES

Rangers First was launched in early March; an initiative backed by SDS encouraging Rangers fans to work together towards a community ownership model for the Ibrox club. Several meetings were held throughout February to outline the creation of Rangers First as a CIC and how it could help ensure a sustainable future for the club.

A website has been set up for fans to sign up and pledge their support via a Direct Debit scheme, similar to that seen at Hearts of Midlothian and Dunfermline Athletic. Social Media channels such as Twitter especially are also being used to great effect in increasing awareness and support for the cause. Rangers First is open to any and all Rangers fans, regardless of any supporter group or organisation affiliation and represents an excellent opportunity for supporters to contribute to the future success of the club.

COMMUNITY OWNERSHIP WEEK ROUNDUP

Supporters Direct held their Community Ownership week from the 19-26th of February, celebrating the strength and continued growth of the movement in Scottish football. This included presentations at both Holyrood to MSPs and at Westminster to MPs, promoting community ownership and the role it has to play in the future of football in Scotland.

A ‘Community Ownership 2014’ booklet was distributed to those in attendance, detailing the work done by SDS and the impact it has had thus far. There was also a week of community ownership focused content on ScottishFans.org and Twitter – engaging with supporters on what the movement meant for them and their club, with articles on fan-ownership around the world and interviews with figures from within football and politics on the benefit of such an ownership structure.
