Dear Friends:

This is a powerful time in history, the end of the Mayan calendar.  Some believe it will be the end of the world, an apocalyptic prophecy.  The Internet has helped feed the sensationalism and New Age visionaries foresee monumental change, from doomsday to a new age of enlightenment.

Mayan descendant, Jose Manrique Esquivel, refutes the prophecy, maintaining that the 21st of December will only bring “the beginning of a new era,” and not a calamitous end.  He sees the date as a celebration of their survival despite centuries of genocide and oppression. “For us, this Dec. 21 is the end of a great era and also the beginning of a new era… In Mexico’s Mayan heartland, nobody is preparing for the end of the world; instead, they’re bracing for a tsunami of spiritual visitors.”  For Esquivel and other modern-day Maya, Dec. 21 is a chance to raise awareness about rescuing the planet, not prepare for its demise. “People all over the world need to focus on the very real damage we have done to the Earth… We’re putting in danger the existence of our world,” Esquivel said. “It’s our goal for this date to create consciousness about our Earth… We want to gather our strength to save the Earth.” [Excerpt from "Mayan prophecy sparks dread, celebration" by Jack Chang, The Associated Press]

I am hopeful that we are approaching an era of spiritual consciousness.  I am holding the light for the evolution of love, humanity, and respect on our planet, and the end of war, hatred, cruelty, ego consciousness and greed.  The survival of the planet is reliant upon a higher vibration to sustain itself: The energy of restoration over destruction.  Evolution of the human spirit is at hand.

The animals, the earth, the human species are ONE inseparable soul energy.  I believe the animal kingdom is the conduit to the light, to our own evolution - their unconditional love is a channel to self-love and the awakening of our planet.

In this powerful time in our history, let us take a moment of silence in our hearts for the countless animals around the world who have suffered and died tragically, their cries for mercy unheard at the hands of industry with no respect or regard for life.   Let us envision a new era of enlightened consciousness, compassion, love and respect for all living beings of the earth.

Whatever this historic end of the Mayan calendar means to you, may you find peace and love in your heart, the vision of a better future and the awakening of soul on our planet.

The power of respect will change our world.

Blessings to you and all the animals around the world yet to be saved.

"A revealing new film explores the psychological and spiritual factors that contribute to animal cruelty in the fur industry. Rather than merely covering tales of brutality, Cry of the Innocent: The Voices that Can't Speak interprets from the "soul perspective" in an attempt to explore the underlying source of animal abuse and the subsequent disconnection in society. As Lowson has stated: "The power of respect will change our world" - respect for ourselves and respect for life." - National Geographic News Watch

"The innocent in the title of Lowson's movie are the estimated 50 million animals that are slaughtered annually for their fur for the sake of fashion... Lowson doesn't follow the temptation to communicate her message with stark visuals. Instead, she takes the more sensitive road. Lowson has recently released her film trailer in an effort to bring attention to what she believes are the deeper implications of the killing of animals for fur, and to raise funding for the completion of her film." - Chicago Examiner
