On Wednesday, June 10, HarvardWIT+ will join others to participate in the #ShutDownAcademia, #ShutDownStem, and #Strike4BlackLives movements. We stand in solidarity with Black members of the academic community in calling for racial justice, and we commit to education, action, and healing.

 WEDNESDAY, JUNE 10

#ShutDownAcademia
#ShutDownSTEM

Dear HarvardWIT+ Community,

#ShutDownSTEM is an initiative from a multi-identity, intersectional coalition of STEM professionals and academics taking action for Black lives. These efforts build on—and would not be possible without—the long history of Black activism, scholarship, and leadership in the fight for Black lives. On Wednesday, June 10, 2020, the action calls for STEM professionals to focus on education, action, and healing in the fight against anti-Blackness.

In solidarity with #ShutDownSTEM, HarvardWIT+ is hosting a lunchtime discussion on Wednesday, June 10 from 12-1PM.

This will be an opportunity to discuss how we can move in collective action towards ending anti-Black racism in STEM, academia, and beyond. We encourage you all to read through the resources below, and come with any questions, thoughts, or topics you'd like to discuss.
