CSA, Community Supported Agriculture
The CSA model for farming is also referred to as subscription farming or farm shares. In this model one subscribes a season’s worth of vegetables, sharing both the risks and bounty of agriculture. You place your food dollar directly in the hands of one or more local  farms and in exchange receive a share of fresh, organically grown vegetables each week delivered to your local neighbourhood. The producers agree to provide an ongoing amount of food to each customer who has pre-purchased a share for that season. Shares contribute to the costs of production, and provide a guaranteed income for the farmer. This spreads any risk amongst the investors, who typically get delivered a box of vegetables and fruit in return. Subscribers also have the potential to build a closer relationship with the grower, the land, and other members. Although quite unknown in NZ, CSA's in USA, Canada, France and Japan have grown strongly over the last few years.  Seven Springs Farm is a CSA operating in West Auckland. A CSA for Glen Eden is currently in the planning stages. To find out more about the Glen Eden CSA email Ross at

Savana & Pam 'holding the fort' at the Glen Eden Christmas Carnival.

The Glen Eden Christmas Carnival in December at Parrs Park had lots of fun, rides and sharing for all ages!

'Treat rivers as taonga, not toilets'

Dame Anne Salmond advocates for our streams in Aotearoa on a regularly basis and they sure need this help.
Her latest NZ Herald article gives a strong message that 'We must work together and prioritise restoration of waterways over short-term commercial gain'.
The Te Awaroa Foundation (which Anne is the project sponsor) is being set up to support &  work with groups across NZ to create a problem-solving network that makes river restoration more straightforward, and a movement that gives it irresistible momentum.

Volunteers Needed

Stream Restoration Experience Days happen on Glen Eden streams every Thursday & Friday. Come enjoy your local streams environs whilst contributing to its restoration.

You will be working alongside Project Twin Streams Glen Eden Stream Rangers learning about the stream habitats including your native and weed species.
