Operational Excellence rolled out at Alumicor
In 2014 Alumicor introduced a formal Operational Excellence program in two of its plants. Both the Winnipeg, and Toronto manufacturing plants have successfully implemented the first three tools which include 5s +1, Visual Management, and Continuous Improvement Culture.  Our Montreal and Halifax plants will be focusing on implementing the first 3 tools this year while our Winnipeg and Toronto plants will focus their attention on 3 new tools Problem Solving, Leader Standard Work, and Kaizen.
Building Quality into our Product
Building quality into our manufacturing processes is very important to Alumicor.  In the spring of 2015 Alumicor partnered with Seneca College in Toronto to upgrade the welding skills and techniques of our employees through a 2 day customized course.   Employee`s from across Canada participated in this training which will be invaluable as we ensure we continue to build quality into our processes.
Alumicor Winnipeg – Tour Site for National AME Conference
The AME (Association for Manufacturing Excellence) and CME (Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters) will be holding the 2015 Canadian Lean Conference in Winnipeg in June 1-4.  Our Winnipeg facility will be a tour site that focuses on Visual Management, and how continuous learning is embodied into our Four Square Philosophy.  We look forward to getting some great feedback from Lean practitioners from across Canada, and the United States.

A word from the President

Alumicor is very proud of our team of Regional Sales Managers.  Many of them have completed the courses and passed the examinations required to obtain the designation of CTR—certified technical representative.  The course study requires a significant commitment from each of them but it makes them more valuable to our customers and their advisors.  Alumicor’s objective is to provide our RSMs with the time to assist and advise our customers on upcoming jobs.  Lately they have been spending too much time working with our customers on problem resolution.  To that end, we began a project to internally raise the bar on our delivery promises to our customers.  We want to be near perfect on meeting what we call “On Time and Complete” and right now, all hands are on deck on this project at Alumicor.  I look forward to hearing your comments on our progress with this project when we meet.
Best wishes,
Larry Maker
