Welcome to the 2nd edition of the IP Alumni Newsletter! This annual update will keep all International Plan alumni connected to Georgia Tech, the Office of International Education, and to all of the amazing international endeavors Tech students and alumni undertake. In this issue, we highlight important IP events, share profiles of IP alumni, and showcase a variety of ways to get involved and/or stay involved. We hope you enjoy this edition of the IP Alumni Newsletter!
IP Induction Ceremony

Our IP Induction Ceremony in the fall was a success! We celebrated our new IP students as they start their own international journeys, and we were honored to have Dr. G. Wayne Clough, Georgia Tech President Emeritus, as one of our guest speakers during the event. In addition to Dr. Clough, we had several speakers share their international experiences including IP Alumna Cristina Lara (BA '14), IP Senior Andrea Vetrone (ENVE '16), and Dr. Yves Berthelot, Vice Provost for International Initiatives. Incoming IP students were able to meet other students in their major and language area as well as IP upperclassmen who shared their advice from their time in the program. All IP alumni are invited to join us at next fall's Induction Ceremony in Mid-September. More details will be sent closer to the event.

New IP Graduates
The 2015-2016 Academic Year produced 32 new IP graduates who have joined the ranks of IP Alumni! We look forward to steadily growing the number of graduates each year and increasing the reach of the International Plan throughout the world.
IP Alumna on Panel at the Colloquium on International Engineering Education

IP Alumna Becky Byler (BME '13) represented Georgia Tech on a panel at the 19th Annual Colloquium on International Engineering Education in Newport, Rhode Island this November. Becky was one of several international engineering program alumni from universities around the country on the panel speaking about the impact of programs like the International Plan and ways to keep alumni engaged and involved once they are no longer on campus. She is currently pursuing her PhD at Yale University and shares the following alumni perspective about the IP:

“My desire to impact humanity through innovation, particularly within global health biotechnology applications, led me to Georgia Tech for my undergraduate studies and, specifically, to Georgia Tech’s biomedical engineering and International Plan program. Studying, working, and researching abroad through the International Plan truly developed me into the “humanitarian engineer” that I am today. I became a biomedical engineer fluent in discussing and solving technical problems in Spanish and a contributing member of several multi-national teams. I would not be the engineer that I am today without Georgia Tech’s International Plan and I firmly believe that the world needs more humanitarian engineers. Through programs like the International Plan, we have the tools to train this next generation.”
