Summer Lab Research Internships in Czech Republic

Masaryk University has managed to build impressive research facilities in the last decade and has profiled itself as one of the strongest research institutions in Central Europe. Incoming students will be required to work at least 120 hours (8 hours a day, 4 days a week, 5 weeks in total- June 4 - July 9, 2017) on a specific project assigned and supervised by local faculty members.

  • Three-day trips to the regional capitals (Prague, Vienna and Budapest) where students will be able to understand the Central European context to the Czech identity.

There will be an Orientation, 24/7 on-site assistance, local student assistant at the residence, as well as access to the libraries, cafeterias, PC labs, and available gym facilities for the whole duration of the program.

2017 SRF Summer Scholars Program
Biomedical Research @ University of Oxford


The SRF Summer Scholars Program offers undergraduate students the opportunity to conduct biomedical research to combat diseases of aging, such as cancer, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's Disease under the guidance of a mentor. Students participating in the program will hone their writing skills via periodic reports, which are designed to emulate text scientists commonly must produce. At the end of the summer, students will have the opportunity to put all of their newly developed communication skills into practice at a student symposium. 
 
Projects
  • Develop a novel machine learning based approach such as small molecule therapies, or other biologics and potentially regressive medicines for predicting eventual success of early drug candidates with greater accuracy. (Chas Bountra, PhD)
    • This will require using statistical software such as R as well as develop a keen understanding of drug development process and skills applicable in almost any big data scenario.
    • Some experience in statistics and R or similar software experience preferred.
  • Permanent loss of cardiac tissue results from a heart attach. Novel strategies targeting cells already present in the adult heart as potential sources for cardiac repair could bypass this hurdle and deliver a more effective treatment.The Summer Scholar will investigate selected open chromatin regions at different stages of the regenerative process and will perform perturbations experiments in the zebrafish to further elucidate the epicardial contribution to the regenerating heart. The Summer Undergraduate Research Programme (SURP) provides an opportunity for international undergraduate students to undertake research attachments for 8 weeks. Students will conduct research (80 research projects in various disciplines) under the supervision of a CUHK faculty member and earn 3 credits upon successful completion of the program. The GLP gives participants the opportunity to explore blueEnergy’s award-winning community development model, apply classroom knowledge to real-world situations, grow personally and professionally, and create local impact. There is a fee for all programs, Connect-123 provides substantial local support, including secure housing, logistics support and regular social programs, ranging from cultural tours to group community service activities.  They also advise students prior to departure and provide ongoing support and guidance once abroad, from advice and mentoring to hands-on help in case of an emergency.  Programs run throughout the year and both program dates and duration are flexible according to students’ schedules.

The China Internship Program offers professional internship placements in major national and international companies across all industries and fields of study. ImmerQi provides international internships in over 200 companies in three major Chinese cities: Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu across 16 key industry sectors. Preferred internship length of 18+ weeks, but others available. Some internships provide nominal stipends. Standard program fee (~1340)  includes accommodation, internship placement, assistance with obtaining Chinese visa, airport pickup, local SIM card, orientation, social and networking events in-country, and 24/7 on-site support.
