March MGANM Monthly Meeting: New MSUE MG Coordinator Introduction and Botanical Garden Update

When:  Tuesday, March 3rd 2015; 6:30 pm (Master Gardeners will hold a potluck at 6:00 pm with a chance to meet and discuss their projects with one another prior to the program)
Where: Boardman River Nature Center, 1450 Cass Road, Traverse City, MI (see map)
Who:  Free for MGANM members, $5 suggested donation for the public
What:  We have a new coordinator!!! Elise Carolan, the new MSUE Home Horticulture Program Instructor (Master Gardener Coordinator) will speak about her vision for the MSUE Master Gardener Program and the role Master Gardener Volunteers will play in her plans for the program. Additionally, hear from Karen Schmidt from The Botanical Garden at Historic Barns Park as to what’s up-and-coming for this world class partner project. Volunteer opportunities will surely be discussed, so bring your excitement!

April MGANM Monthly Meeting: Update from MMGA

What:  Hear what is going on with the Michigan Master Gardener Association, and learn what our state representatives are working on.
*MGANM T-shirts and lanyards will be available for purchase at our monthly meetings. T-shirts are $12 and lanyards are $3.

Nature's Pharmacy: The New Medicinal Garden at MBGNA

During a recent visit to Ann Arbor, Cheryl Gross visited an introductory, ‘teaser’ herbarium exhibit at the U of M Art Museum. The herbarium is the collection and preservation of plants and seeds. The teaser was about the new Medicinal Garden at the Matthaei Botanical Garden and Nichols Arboretum at the University of Michigan. Read here to learn about the history and background of the garden and view a map and plant list courtesy of the MBGAN. Then, plan to visit the new installation in late summer!
