Our tribute to Royce Abbey, 1922-2014, Rotary International Past President (1988-89)

ROTARY: JOIN LEADERS | EXCHANGE IDEAS | TAKE ACTION

Remembering Royce Abbey

When we look back on our lives, we think about what we have done, what we have achieved, the challenges we have faced and how we have overcome the many adversities on the road to accomplishing our goals and dreams. Importantly, as Rotarians, we think about how we have been of service to others.

With heavy hearts we learnt of the loss of one of our great Rotarians, Rotary International Past President Royce Abbey OAM, on February 20, 2014. Read story >

Dolly and Rotary bring the gift of literacy to kids across Australia

Anyone who has seen Dolly Parton in concert will agree that the pint-sized singer/songwriter is a gifted story teller. In a bid to share her passion for words, Dolly launched the Imagination Library in 1996. Since then over 56,000,000 books have been gifted to children across the globe.

On her recent visit to Australia, Dolly Parton shared her passion for reading and her dreams as a child of becoming a singer and songwriter. She described how growing up in a highly disadvantaged area where even her family members could not afford books was the impetus for starting the now global Imagination Library. Read story >

How much is a child's life worth?
