National Volunteer Week 2013

ShelterBox volunteers were hosted by the Governor General during National Volunteer Week.
To mark National Volunteer Week, the Governor-General, Lt Gen The Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae, and Lady Janine Mateparate, hosted a reception at Government House in Wellington to mark the contribution of volunteers to 165 organisations that hold vice-regal patronage. ShelterBox volunteers, Sally Ann Fletcher and Warren Irvine were chosen to attend.  Read more here.

ShelterBox at 104th Rotary International Convention

Approximately 25,000 Rotarians and Rotary supporters from all over the world gathered recently in Lisbon, Portugal for the 104th Rotary International (RI) Annual Convention. ShelterBox was present at the House of Friendship, an integral part of the Convention and a space to share ideas and to learn about opportunities of service for Rotarians. Volunteers and staff members from ShelterBox and six of its affiliates spoke to visitors about the charity’s disaster relief work worldwide as well as chances for Rotarians to get involved. ShelterBox Humanitarian Award 2013

Inaugural ShelterBox Award presented to District 9930.
Rotary District 9930 are the recipients of the inaugural ShelterBox New Zealand Humanitarian Award for 2013. Our picture shows the award being made to District Governor Roger Miller at the District Changeover in Tauranga by Rotary exchange student Francisco Beltran and ShelterBox District Coordinator Ron Fyfe. A District 9970 IYE student lends a hand to help raise funds for ShelterBox during a sausage sizzle organised by members of the Shortbread Trust and Nelson West Rotary Club.
A regular fundraising opportunity by members of the Nelson West Rotary Club and the Shortbread Trust has led to a regular pitch which is raising funds for ShelterBox. We are grateful for the continued support of the many clubs and organisations across New Zealand who are 'Getting on Board' and helping us to make a big difference for families who have been displaced or made homeless throughout the world by disaster.

Canadian Teenager gives away concert ticket! ShelterBox is used to hearing about acts of generosity, but who would have thought a teenage One Direction fan would give up her concert ticket to help out a Cornish charity nearly 2,000 miles away? Read more here.
