ERCO Greenology® for sustainable lighting

Light is an integral part of sustainable building. But what makes lighting sustainable? Two aspects are crucial: firstly planning according to the Human Centric Lighting concept – light should only be used where it is needed, and secondly, the right lighting tools for implementation: effective in use, and developed and produced according to circular economy principles. ERCO Greenology follows these approaches and combines ecological responsibility with technological expertise.

Light where it is needed

Human Centric Lighting (HCL) places people, their needs and activities at the centre of lighting design. Light is only used where required by human perception, meaning not over a wide area and thus lavishly throughout the room. This perception-oriented approach to lighting design has always been the basis of luminaire development at ERCO.

Sustainable planning strategy: our whitepaper outlines and details the building blocks of an HCL concept for you.

lx/W: The indicator for sustainable lighting

High energy efficiency (lm/W) is, by itself, no guarantee of sustainable lighting. The decisive factor is the effectiveness of a luminaire in the application and thus the question of how much light actually reaches the target area (lx/W)? Only precise light control without light spill makes an efficient luminaire effective and thus sustainable. ERCO spotlights are up to 20% more effective than comparable luminaires. For your project this means identical illuminance but with a lower connected load.

The path to a CO₂ neutral light factory

ERCO luminaires significantly contribute to the energy efficiency and long-lasting use of buildings. Sustainability also plays a central role in their development and production. Our goal is a CO₂ neutral light factory. To achieve this we accord to the principles of circular economy – from the procurement of raw materials and eco-design of the luminaires to recycling. Thanks to a vertical integration of 80%, we are in a position to develop our production steps sustainably. Find out how ERCO is reducing its CO₂ emissions in the long term.

Even after 50,000 operating hours, 90% of our LEDs still have at least 90% of their original luminous flux (L90/B10). Our case study shows how you can benefit from this.

Modular luminaire designs with interchangeable components for changing project requirements and easy repair.
