Before and After... Again!
A Fresh Look in Narberth
To accommodate a growing family, my clients recently moved to a new property in Narberth— well, an older property but new to them! Having enjoyed the gardens I had designed for them at their previous house, they called me to help them with the curb appeal of their new home. Not knowing what they wanted, I helped them to envision a new look for their new property.
Upon arrival, the first thing that caught my eye was the concrete walkway and steep steps up from the sidewalk that were uneven and not in good shape. I also noticed the front steps by the front door went straight up to the door with no landing. Imagine teetering on the top step with your newborn in your arms and trying to unlock the front door! In the new design, I created a flagstone front walkway with easy, gracious steps up from the sidewalk, and added a landing before the front door.
For the gardens, the plantings are colorful and low maintenance. The boxwoods at the top of the slope screen the cars that are parked on the street, while the low-growing junipers are a no-mow solution for the sloped area. Two dogwoods, ornamental shrubs and perennials add color to the beds by the house and the inside of the boxwoods. And there's a shade garden is tucked under the existing evergreen tree at the corner of the house.
The plantings went in this spring and my clients are very happy with the design. There's nothing that brings me more joy than happy clients!
