Inspiration from Public Gardens and Parks!

Making big space ideas work for your home gardens

We are so fortunate to live in an area where there are so many wonderful public gardens and parks. World-class gardens like Longwood Gardens and Chanticleer, to fabulous parks like Fairmount Park with all its diverse areas (from the Japanese House to natural woodlands of Valley Green).

All these places are great sources of inspiration for your own home property. Sure, you may not have the same acreage, but if something speaks to you, there is always a way to re-interpret it to fit your space.

Here's an example.
This photo is of a garden I took at Chanticleer.

Here are some ideas from this garden that you could incorporate in your home garden:
•  Planting area within a patio

•  Tree with sculptural trunks and dappled shade
•  Sculpture on a plinth
•  Plantings inside low bowls, in beds or on top of a wall
•  Potted tropical plants within beds (bring them inside during the winter)
•  Blue-purples and orange-peach flowers together with chartreuse

So whenever something catches your eye, take a photo!

If you don't know how to re-interpret what caught your eye for your property, give me call. I bring artistic vision and sustainability together to design outdoor spaces that enrich your life and feed your soul.

New Ideas!

If you have an extensive wish list, or have no ideas what to do, I will work with you to create a customized Master Plan for your outdoor spaces that you will love for years to come.

Garden in Spring

The Year of FUN!

Having declared 2019 The Year of Fun, in April I had fun getting my own gardens ready for the spring season. I know... you'd think this would be a no-brainer for a landscape designer. But like the cobbler's children with no shoes, I so rarely get to do my own gardening during the spring (my busiest season!) This spring I actually had no choice. Last fall we had a new deck and new fence installed and the workmen wreaked havoc on my gardens. So this spring I got the back gardens back into shape early and it is so great to have the basics done! Now for more fun: add some new plants to the back bed, create a new bed by the new deck, and then add a couple fun new things which I will keep a secret until they are done, then I'll share them with you! Keep tuned...
