The survey results are in! According to the 2014 American Society of Landscape Architect (ASLA) survey, the most popular residential outdoor living features are:
  •  lighting (98.3%),
  •  seating/dining areas (97.7%),
  •  fire pit/fireplaces (95.4%),
  •  grills (94.3%), and
  •  installed seating (benches, ledges, steps, boulders) (89.6%).
The most popular residential landscape/garden elements are:
  •  low maintenance landscapes (95.4%),
  •  native plants (84.5%), and
  •  fountains/ornamental water features (83.9%).
