Stanford PACS Conference March 18-19

The Stanford Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society (Stanford PACS), an SCPKU Anchor Program, celebrates the third anniversary of its work in China. The celebration includes a conference at SCPKU March 18-19 with the discussion "China Forward: Building the Capacity of Philanthropy and Nonprofits for the 21st Century."  Stanford PACS is a research center for scholars, leaders, and practitioners to explore and share ideas that create social change. Conference participation will be by invitation only.


APARC Health Conference March 19

The Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center's (APARC) Asia Health Policy Program will hold a conference "Chronic Disease Control in China and the Role of Primary Healthcare" at SCPKU on March 19. The event will focus on the large and growing burden of chronic non-communicable diseases and highlight the importance of strengthening primary healthcare in China. The conference is open to the public.  Learn more and RSVP.


SCPKU Welcomes Graduate Seminars

SCPKU is hosting Stanford Professor Randall Stafford's graduate seminar "China's New Medical Care and Public Health Challenges" March 16 to April 3. The Stanford Law School will also be holding a graduate seminar the week of March 23.  Read more.

ALC Hosts April Press Conference

Stanford's Asian Liver Center (ALC) will hold a press conference at SCPKU on April 17 focused on the ALC's Hepatitis B education pilot program in China's Gansu and Qinhai provinces. Targeting pregnant women and healthcare workers in these provinces, the ALC has collaborated with local health departments to provide a series of classes, workshops, and public health services to enhance understanding and management of the disease. The program has so far trained over 12,000 local healthcare workers and reached over 3 million residents in the two provinces. Read more
