World Leaders Forum features Steven Chu

SCPKU held its second annual Lee Shau Kee World Leaders Forum on October 13 which was titled "Climate Change and Clean Energy" and keynoted by Nobel Laureate Dr. Steven Chu. The event also included two panel discussions with a diverse set of experts from academia, government, and industry.  Read more

Education experts gather at SCPKU

From November 4-5, SCPKU hosted a conference titled "Building World-Class Universities: An Institutional Perspective" to discuss institutional contexts that promote the construction and longevity of world-class universities. The conference was part of the broader Beijing Forum 2016 and brought together over 30 scholars, university presidents and other thought leaders from 11 countries in Europe, Russia, North America and the Asia-Pacific region.  Read more.

SCPKU hosts Human Cities Initiative

This fall, the Stanford Human Cities Initiative (HCI), an interdisciplinary effort based out of the Program on Urban Studies, held seminars and a talk at the center focused on advancing a human-centered approach to cities in order to benefit the environment, economy, and society at large.   Recognizing that cities are complex, the HCI works to cultivate a 21st-century mindset and tools to address urban challenges. It works simultaneously at the global and local scales to ensure that approaches are complementary, while prioritizing human relationships and social inclusion.  Read more.

Lecture Series targets health and science

In October, SCPKU held a series of talks focused on health and science.  Stanford Assistant Professor Olivier Gevaert from the School of Medicine discussed multi-scale data fusion for precision medicine; Stanford Professor Chaitan Khosla from the School of Engineering focused on the translational power of connecting chemistry, engineering, and medicine; and Myron Cohen, University of North Carolina Distinguished Professor of Medicine and Associate Vice Chancellor for Global Health shared his research on the transmission and prevention of STD pathogens including HIV. ALC holds JoinJade holiday campaign

Between December 21-27, 2016, the Stanford Asian Liver Center (ALC) will hold a social media campaign #JoinJade Fashion# asking the public to wear green during the Christmas holiday season to promote hepatitis B and liver cancer awareness. An anchor program at SCPKU, the ALC is active in the JoinJade global initiative to support people living with chronic hepatitis B, the leading cause of liver cancer worlwide.  Read more.

January 2017 Deadline for SCPKU Program Applications

The deadline for the next round of applications for team-based faculty, faculty and pre-doctoral fellowships and graduate seminar faculty proposals is January 15, 2017.
