European Seniors- Holland 2013

Team Ireland had a great competition at the European Senior Championships coming 7th overall. The competition started with a bronze medal  in the SERC with Triona Mc Menamin Donegal, Bernard Cahill, Dylan Barrett and Cormac O Sullivan.

Team Ireland were faced with good Irish conditions on the beach with 3ft surf and big rips putting the competition on hold for an hour.

Bernard and Dylan had fantastic races in the run swim run event on the beach picking up silver and bronze medals in a really close finish and also paired up for a close 4th place finish in the board rescue event. Everyone on the team also made finals in the respective events adding up great team points.

Lily Barrett from County Clare set two Irish Junior records in the 50m manikin and the 100m manikin tow in the pool.

Lily teamed up with County Clare team mate Roisin Cahill to win gold and become European Junior Champions in the board rescue event. The boys team of Adam and Rory Mc Evoy were just outside the medals to finish 4th . In the run swim run event Eoghan O Grady from Mayo won a silver medal in what was a super fast , tough race with Rory in 6th and Hugh in 14th. Lily was 4th in the girls event with Ayesha Garvey and Katie Shannon also making the final.

Lily picked up another gold and another European Junior title in the board race with Ayesha Garvey from Donegal in the final and Adam  in the boys final. In the flags Ireland had also competitors making the final 16 with Adam in 8th and Cameron Steel from Wexford in 10th.
