Autumn Newsletter 2012

Hard to believe that it is Autumn already! All in all a successful summer for PVG with many exciting activities in Manchester (despite the rainy weather) and lots of travel. Laura G was in America sourcing stock, and Laurie B traveled to New Zealand, so we had busy calendars. We met many new friends both in person, and online, while greeting familiar faces at vintage & antique shows.

Following our successful show at the Victoria Baths in May,
we’ll be headed to the Baths again on Sunday October 28th for
Discover Vintage’s Home Show.
Victoria Baths is a fascinating structure and this show can’t be missed! Entry is £3 between 11am -4pm. Victoria Baths can be found at Hathersage Road, Manchester, M13 0FE

Salvo Fair

The Salvo Fair, in June, was very, very muddy. The van had to be towed on and off the field by tractors –quite exciting, but very messy. There was a lovely turnout, and Planet Vintage Girl, along with associate business Insitu, had a great stall. We were not alone in this opinion! George Clarke, host of Channel 4’s Restoration Man, stopped by the stall as he was filming an episode. He fell in love with some of our Poole Pottery and quirky stock. A formica kitchen table was also selected by Jane Field-Lewis of the “my cool” series for a restoration project with Jane and the caravan owner.  We’ll let you know when this television episode airs.
Speaking of TV, have you watched the ITV Mrs. Biggs program? Many Planet Vintage Girl stock pieces, such as chairs, light fixtures and textiles, show up in the period scenes. Victoria Baths, incidentally, featured heavily in the first episode as the location of the bank and jail scenes. Did you notice?
Home Restoration & Salvage Fair

The Home, Restoration & Salvage Fair, held in Knutsford this August, featured beautiful vintage style bunting between bright tents. Gorgeous ice cream was served in a restored pink VW camper van by the folks of Polly’s Vintage Ice Cream Parlour. YUM! We bought some awesome vintage medical and heat lamps for the store –always satisfying to come back from a show with nice vintage finds! Our friends Reclamation Warriors joined Insitu and Planet Vintage Girl at the pitch, lavishing it in wonderful French architectural salvage. We were thrilled so many people stopped by to say hello and braved the occasional downpours.
Looking ahead....

Autumn brings trips to Denmark & Portugal; hopefully we’ll have a trip to Stockholm in the Spring, so keep a constant look out for vintage European goodies on the Facebook (planet vintage girl) and Twitter (@planetvintage) feeds.
All the best from Planet Vintage Girl!
