Newsletter no. 9 | 11 June 2020
Dear ENRIITC Partner,

Share your news with us!
Having an active channel of communication is of paramount importance for our network. If you have any news on, for example, technical progress, participation in events or published articles, please let us know.
Who is ENRIITC?
ENRIITC is made up of 11 consortium partners and more than 60 associate partners, making it a very broad and diverse Network. To better understand who is involved in the Network and what collaboration opportunities are available, we will be introducing 1 partner in each newsletter, starting with the consortium.
The European Spallation Source (ESS) ERIC
The European Spallation Source (ESS) is a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC), a multi-disciplinary research facility based on the world’s most powerful neutron source. ESS vision is to build and operate the world’s most powerful neutron source, enabling scientific breakthroughs in research related to materials, energy, health and the environment, and addressing some of the most important societal challenges of our time.
ESS Head of External Relations and EU Project, Ute Gunsenheimer, is the project coordinator for ENRIITC. Anne-Charlotte Joubert, ESS Grant Officer, is the project manager, and Madison Bell, ESS Grant Administrative Support, is the project administrator. Together, they are leading WP1. This work package concerns the management of the project, enabling and stimulating efficient exchange of information. It facilitates dynamic collaboration among project partners and assures a well-operated network of ILOs, ICOs, and project Associates. Read more about WP1 here

BSBF2020 postponed
Given the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic and a genuine concern for the safety of the participants, the Big Science Business Forum International Organising Committee has decided to postpone the BSBF event to 28 September – 1 October 2021. Given that the 1st ENRIITC Networking Meeting was planned to take place at the forum, we will provide updates in the next week how we plan to approach this.

CDTI has organised a BSBF webinar that will take place on 23 June to discuss the impact and measures that COVID-19 has had on the big science market. Representatives from the EU Commission, International RIs and ILO organisations will be present. To register for this webinar and to view the agenda, please visit the BSBF website here

Winning Big Science Contracts
On Tuesday 26 May, Big Science Sweden hosted the virtual training session, “Winning Big Science Contracts.” Trainer, Public Procurement Expert, and EU Attorney Ohad Graber-Soudry presented: the main stages of the tendering process, how to more effectively submit to tenders, and explained tenderers’ rights for 20+ participants. As former Head of the Legal Division at ESS, he participated in and developed ESS’s procurement rules. This was a great opportunity to find out what one really needs to do to win more contracts! KT Metrics Report
An Expert Group was assembled by the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC) to examine how best to advance towards an EU-wide set of harmonised metrics for knowledge transfer (KT) in publicly funded research organisations (PROs), including universities. The Expert Group was established in partnership with the ENRIITC Associate, the European Association of KT professionals (ASTP), with the purpose of making use of ASTP’s experience of managing a pan-European data survey.
