Dear ENRIITC Partner,

Share your news with us!
Having an active channel of communication is of paramount importance for our network. If you have any news on, for example, technical progress, participation in events or published articles, please let us know.
News from the Project
Your chance to improve the way RI and Industry interact has been extended!

A big thank you to everyone who has already participated in our survey; your contribution is very much appreciated. For those of you who have not, we have great news: the deadline  has been extended to the end of the month!

We need your help to make this survey a success! Your participation is extremely valuable, as it will be used to develop an effective strategy and methodology to establish, train and empower an effective pan-European network of coordinated RI ILOs and ICOs; one that will truly take RI-Industry dialogues to a new level. Please contribute by answering the following questionnaire that fits your title, or send to your ILO/ICO colleagues for them to complete by the 31st of July

FYI: Please do not use Firefox when filling in the questionnaires. We are trying to fix this issues asap.

1st Networking Meeting: new approach

The ENRIITC Consortium met together on the 3rd of July in an Extra-ordinary General Assembly to discuss alternative approaches for our networking meeting, which was initially planned to take place at the BSBF2020. It was unanimously agreed that the meeting should still in-fact take place in a face-to-face setting, but that it should be rescheduled to Q1 2021 in hopes that it will be safer to travel during this time. In the meantime, a virtual meeting/workshop will be scheduled during the autumn of this year for the community to virtually meet, begin communicating with one another and get an update on the progress of the project. Read more on our website here.

Innovation Advisory Committee Meeting

On the 25th of June, the ENRIITC Steering Board virtually met with our Innovation Advisory Committee (IAC) members for the first time. The purpose of the meeting was for the StB and IAC members to get to know one another, and for the IAC to hear some background information on our project,  its objectives and the network.

We are extremely grateful that the six members took the time to meet with us, as the meeting was very fruitful and full of interesting discussions. We are all looking forward to working with them throughout the 3-year life of the project and are excited to involve them more into the activities soon.

Who is ENRIITC?
ENRIITC is made up of 11 consortium partners and more than 60 associate partners, making it a very broad and diverse Network. To better understand who is involved in the Network and what collaboration opportunities are available, we will be introducing 1 partner in each newsletter, starting with the consortium.
CLARIN ERIC

CLARIN, the Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure, is apart of the ENRIITC consortium and is involved in work packages 2, 3, 4 and 5. CLARIN was initiated from the vision that all digital language resources and tools from all over Europe and beyond are accessible through a single sign-on, online environment for the support of research in the social sciences & humanities and other disciplinary domains building on  language data. Currently CLARIN provides easy and sustainable access to multilingual digital language data (in written, spoken or multimodal form) and offers advanced tools to discover, explore, exploit, annotate, analyse or combine such data sets, wherever they are located. CLARIN was established as ERIC in 2012 and obtained ESFRI Landmark status in 2016.

Franciska de Jong is Executive Director of CLARIN ERIC. She leads the sustainability agenda of CLARIN, including the outreach to new communities of use, strengthening collaboration with partners on other continents than Europe, and promoting the collaboration in multidisciplinary settings and with non-academic partners.

Elisa Gorgaini is External Relations Officer at CLARIN ERIC. She is responsible for the communication, PR and marketing activities of the organisation.

Nicola Piras is Financial Assistant at CLARIN ERIC. He is responsible for the financial administration of the organisation. Nicola also supports the communication team with video editing.

News from the Partners
Launch of Phenomics Webinars
To compensate for the cancellation of many scientific conferences and opportunities to discuss latest developments in the field, the plant phenotyping initiatives IPPN, EPPN2020 and our associate EMPHASIS are launching a webinar series on plant phenotyping. Contributions from researchers from all phenotyping-related fields are welcome. The webinar series takes place biweekly; the next webinar taking place tomorrow, 10th July, at 14:00 CEST. The session will be given by Dr. Nadia Al-Tamimi from University College Dublin and is titled "Identification of QTLs associated with growth and transpiration under controlled conditions at The Plant Accelerator ® (TPA)".

Please check our website or the Phenomics Webinars website to find out more about upcoming sessions.
CLARIN Annual Conference 2020

Due to COVID-19, the 2020 edition of the CLARIN Annual Conference will go virtual.  The organisers are currently working on ways to provide all attendants with an attractive virtual experience and optimal interaction opportunities. CLARIN is counting on the support of the participants in turning the event into a success despite the format shift. As the plans develop they will be able to offer more details on the programme and the registration procedure. Stay up to date on the development of the conference page
