May 22nd is Writing A Powerfully Effective Capability Statement class. This class will provide contractors step by step instruction from national experts in developing a Capability Statement that will get you noticed. If your Capability Statement could benefit from expert guidance, you should attend this class! May 27th is How the SBIR/STTR Programs Can Help Build Your Business. This class will feature representatives from DHS, DOE, and NIH, and a legal expert to help you learn about and leverage the SBIR/STTR programs for business growth. June 18th is The Super Circular: What The New Rules Mean for Grant Recipients. Proper grant management is essential and the new changes carry a huge impact on grant recipients.

Protests: A Recurring Cost of Doing Business

The federal contracting marketplace is unusual in many ways. One of the most misunderstood concepts is the idea of protesting before, during or after a contract award. Now that the spending budget is shrinking, competition is also tougher and the incumbent contractor is no longer an automatic awardee.

This scenario sets the stage for more protests, both warranted and frivolous. Before going further, before taking any legal action of any sort in this market, it is always recommended to consult with expert legal counsel. While this article is not meant as legal advice, know that before reaching out to an attorney, it will help to understand key basics of federal protests.

Recently, it has become standard practice for a vendor holding an existing contract (the incumbent) to protest any award if it did not win the new or recompeted contract.

The Art of Saying a
Professional Goodbye

Saying “goodbye” is one of those activities that seems so simple it hardly requires advance thought — and so endings creep up on us and catch us unprepared. We tend to default to our habitual responses whether or not they’ve been effective in the past. As a result we often miss opportunities to enjoy truly meaningful endings — instead they’re rushed and poorly planned — or we skip over them entirely, casting the old aside as we race toward the new.

But at certain times of the year, such as the graduation season that’s about to begin, we’re compelled to give more thought than usual to endings. And in our work lives, we’re saying goodbye with increasing frequency as well, as more work is conducted in ad hoc teams that assemble for a single project and then dissolve.

The company is also dedicated to helping veterans, seniors, and the environment through its social responsibility program.  The national nonprofit, founded by Cass Belknap in 2003, 
www.TwilightWish.org grants wishes to seniors, with one third of the 1,750+ wishes granted to veterans.
