Restoring lives, uplifting Triad communities.
Even in challenging times, we continue to serve refugees, immigrants, survivors of human trafficking, and our welcoming community here in the Triad. We want to keep you informed of what we've been up to and how you can get involved. We're grateful for your support as we continue to serve together!

Providing Holistic Community Care in the Midst of COVID-19
In response to the needs arising from COVID-19, our staff have been hard at work implementing our holistic Community Care Plan. This plan is helping us stay connected with clients, anticipate and meet needs, and provide our local community with creative and impactful ways to demonstrate welcome to their immigrant, refugee, and survivor neighbors. Hear from staff about how we're responding on Instagram or Facebook.
As we continue to provide essential services in our community, we're following the latest guidance from Governor Cooper and World Relief leadership. Read our latest office announcements and access resources here >>

All in This Together: Refugees in Winston-Salem Sew Over 3,000 Masks
Wondering what your refugee neighbors have been up to? A group of Karenni Burmese refugees in Winston-Salem have been busy sewing masks for healthcare workers in partnership with Project Mask WS. Rob Cassell, our Executive Director, recently interviewed Sei Paw about how she and her community are giving back, even in the face of hardships caused by COVID-19.

Partnering to Combat Hunger
In April, we received a donation of 2,000 lbs. of rice from Rise Against Hunger. With the help of local immigrant churches and our volunteers, we were able to distribute the rice to our immigrant, refugee, and survivor neighbors in need of food assistance due to the impacts of COVID-19. Thank you to the many partners and volunteers who made this possible!

Building Bridges: A Volunteer Profile
Gabriel Pais is a bridge builder, and even these challenging times haven't stopped him from helping his fellow volunteers connect with clients in our Citizenship Class. As coronavirus has spread in the Triad, we've been responding to urgent and emerging needs through our holistic Community Care Plan. Funds raised towards this plan have already helped us launch new initiatives like teletherapy and are helping us maintain excellent standards of care for our clients and community. We estimate it will cost $25,000 to fully fund our Holistic Community Care Plan. Thanks to our supporters, we've already raised over $20,000!

Will you help us reach our goal by the end of May?
With just $75, we can connect a family with the essential resources they need.
Thank you for standing with us in this time!

Have you logged your volunteer hours?
It's more important than ever to log the hours you've served. Your hours help us raise a cash match required by certain grants, as well as advocate for even more opportunities to bring our community together and empower others. A volunteer hour is currently valued at $25.43, so every hour logged counts! By logging your hours - especially now - you're helping us ensure that we can serve more people in more ways. Thank you!

A great way to partner with WR Triad is by praying with and for us! Will you join us in continuing to pray for our community in these areas?
  • For wisdom and peace within the refugee and immigrant communities, that they would not fear COVID-19 but be equipped with the knowledge and ability to take necessary precautions while continuing to care for their community members safely
  • For strength and perseverance among our staff who are witnessing the impacts of COVID-19 on our clients and their community, that they would continue to serve well and care for themselves in the midst of caring for others
  • For meaningful connection for those experiencing an increased sense of isolation, that they may receive love and support from neighbors in our welcoming community
  • For health and protection for our community, especially for those who are more vulnerable to severe illness
  • For healing and comfort for those who are currently experiencing sickness and loss
  • For provision for those in vulnerable and uncertain economic situations
  • For wisdom and creativity as our staff continues to anticipate and plan for emerging needs  among the communities we serve
