Is there one good thing to come out of the pandemic?

Some people say that crises can become opportunities – that they can spark transformation and renewal. Maybe we have seen evidence of this in the past, but I definitely prefer to take opportunities starting from better positions than the Covid-19 crisis.

One year with Covid-19 has affected our sector in many ways and my evaluation is that most of the effects are unfortunately severe negative effects. Maybe with one single positive light shining in the dark.

How to "be proactive" by using the new WHO Guidelines on Physical Activity

The new WHO Guidelines on Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour and their slogan ‘Every Move Counts’ arrived as timely message in a difficult year that any activity that gets us up and moving can help boost our wellbeing. There are also many ways you can use the new Guidelines to boost your work and efforts to spread the message about health-enhancing physical activity. Three opportunities stand out to us as ways to “Be Proactive”.

MOVE Transfer Europe-China partners to present at World Leisure Congress

ISCA's MOVE Transfer Europe-China project partners will showcase the results of their two-year collaboration at the hybrid World Leisure Congress in Pinggu (Beijing, China) on 15-21 April 2021. All together, they submitted, and had accepted, 13 presentations for the Congress. Registration is still open for the World Leisure Congress, where ISCA President Mogens Kirkeby and Head of Membership and Campaigns Laska Nenova will also present.

Demand for online learning set to continue in 2021

2020 was a year that propelled the demand for online learning to a new level. ISCA’s platform for grassroots sport and physical activity promoters learn.isca.org was no exception, seeing a significant leap in users from March. This steady momentum has continued - six courses are now available and a new course will be launched later in 2021.

UNESCO calls for investment in Quality PE in pandemic recovery

This Global Sports Week (1 to 5 February 2021), UNESCO is launching two new action-oriented publications call for more investment in Quality Physical Education (QPE). The publications are intended to support Member States in accelerating Covid-19 recovery efforts and building a “new normal” founded on inclusion and resilience.

Towards a European Sport Diplomacy project begins

ISCA partner IRIS has launched a new ‘Towards a European Sport Diplomacy' (TES-D) project aiming to develop a shared concept of sport diplomacy at an EU level. The two-year project incorporates and is set to build on ISCA’s Grassroots Sport Diplomacy concept by exploring sport diplomacy at a community sport level, an academic level and at a political level.

New Physical Literacy for Life resources coming soon

In 2021, Physical Literacy for Life project partners are set to launch brand new resources for teachers, club staff and the general public. The first is a new definition of physical literacy and its four domains, position statements from all partners and in-depth interviews on the topic. The second will be a self-assessment tool for citizens, teachers and trainers.
