How did you celebrate MOVE Week?

With over 1850 events registered in 29 countries across Europe, there were plenty of opportunities for Europeans to get active during MOVE Week from 23-29 May. Reports are now coming in from our National Coordinators, so we expect the final tally to rise even higher in the coming weeks.

More highlights from MOVE Week 2016

Over 600 children at MOVE Week event in Sicily

More than 600 children, accompanied by their parents, took part in a morning of MOVE Week games in Avola (in province of Syracuse, Sicily), Italy, on Wednesday 25 May. The event was a collaboration between Italian MOVE Week National Coordinator UISP and the School De Amicis of Avola to promote healthy food and lifestyle among the local school children.

Moving our colleagues: ISCA leads a week of office MOVEs

As the coordinating organisation of MOVE Week we also got into the action. Our staff at ISCA organised a week full of activities and got our Copenhagen headquarters moving. Along with our visiting colleagues from the S2A Sport project and our fellow office mates from DGI Copenhagen, we found our MOVEs each morning before the working day.

Children, adults and elderly in Prague discover new MOVEs

Nearly three hundred children, adults and elderly people in Prague joined in MOVE Week and learned about new physical activities from kin-ball, woodball and mölkky to trikke. There were two more surprises for the people who attended. The event was followed by Czech TV and the mayor of the city.

Bulgaria turned MOVE Week into a MOVE month

In the first spring edition of MOVE WEEK, the events in Bulgaria were held in more than 25 cities, reaching new youth organisations, prisons and people with disabilities, and celebrating the second edition of its MOVE Weekend.

Referees and players with disabilities at centre of the action in Albania 

Active Disabled People Albania partnered with Genuine Effect for MOVE Week 2016, organising the “BITT 2016 – Tribute to Mati” tournament, where disabled people participated not only as professional players but also as professional referees.

Get ready for MOVE Week in Latin America this November!

The fifth edition of the European MOVE Week wrapped up yesterday, and soon it will be time to MOVE Latin America! It is now confirmed that the fourth edition of MOVE Week Brazil (Semana Move Brasil) will take place from 19-27 November.
