Hello High Point + Welcome to Church!

Hello everyone and thanks for welcoming us into your home again this week. We hope that you had a great week and that you have sensed the presence of God with you.

We do know, however that life is a little crazy right now. There is so much uncertainty and upheaval and it can be hard to quiet our hearts and focus in on worship. But we serve a God who understands; a God who sees our hearts and minds and knows what is troubling us. If you have had a hard week, that's ok. Come into this time of worship with honesty, asking God to meet you where you are at. I promise He will.

While we already gathered in our building for an in-person worship service this morning, we are happy to share the service again with you, so that you can worship 'with us' from the safety of your own space. We pray that this will be a meaningful time of connection with the Lord.

If you are new to High Point and just tuning in for the first time, welcome! We are glad that you have joined us and we pray that God will speak to you through our service. Simply follow along through the format below, clicking the links as you go.
Call to Worship
Read Psalm 118 as your call to Worship today

As we enter into worship, may this Psalm remind us that God is good, that His love  is steadfast and that he hears and answers his people.
He is our strength, our song and our Salvation.

As you read verse 24, remind your heart that today is indeed the day that the Lord has made. It is worth marking and celebrating simply because God made it.

However, as we move through this service, you will also note that today is a special day because we will be marking some very important dates in the yearly calendar. We will be spending some of our time remembering these important items, bringing them before our good God.
Today we are marking Remembrance Day and want to take a few moments to quiet our hearts and remember those who fought for our freedom.
Click on the video above to listen to The Last Post, then spend 2 minutes in silence before Reveille is played.

After your time of silence, pray this prayer as an act of remembrance:

"I praise thee, O God, and I thank Thee for all noble heroes, men and women, living on Earth or living in heaven, who by their toil and sacrifice have made our life more abundant and beautiful. I am grateful to Thee and to them that out of the common stuff of each day, with their hands and hearts, their minds and souls, they have brought order and grace where none was before. With Thanksgiving, O God, I accept their heritage and trust, and pray that, in some measure, I may add to their glorious works, and through my efforts bring nearer the perfection of Thy Kingdom among us. Amen."
Sing "Open the Eyes of My Heart Lord"

As you listen to the lyrics + sing along, may the words of this song be the prayer of your heart. Pause, and ask God to open the eyes of your heart so you can see Him and see how He is working, both in your life and in the world around you.
May he grant you a deeper understanding of his purposes today.
Sing "Hosanna"

As you listen to the lyrics + sing along, ask God to give you strength as you meet with Him through your worship. May he overwhelm you with His presence, casting out all fears and anxieties.
Orphan + Stand Sunday
Today, Sunday November 8th 2020 is "Orphan+ Stand Sunday".
On Orphan Sunday, Christians stand for the orphan and vulnerable.
On "Stand Sunday" Christians stand for children and families in foster care.

This year, the Christian Alliance for Orphans is rallying individuals and churches worldwide to BE THE LIGHT for orphans and foster children.
This call has never been more important, as it is always the vulnerable who suffer most when times are hard.
Our prayers and acts of service, whether humble or grand, will bring light in a dark place.

Watch this short video to learn a little more about why Orphan and Stand Sunday are so important.
After you have watched the video, spend some time in prayer for the vulnerable children of our world. Pray for those in need of a family.
Pray for those in foster care.
And pray for those who care for and support these children
(Including adoptive and foster families- may God raise up others to fill the gap).

Sing "Stand in Your Love"

After you have finished your time of prayer, sing this song and thank God for his perfect love which casts our fear. Pray that this love would be made known far and wide, especially to  those who are orphaned and without a home or family.
Listen to Lt. Kassie's Sermon: "Signposts: A Story of Victory" based on Judges 13-16.
Reflection: Sing "I Raise a Hallelujah"

After you have listened to the sermon, spend a few moments in prayer and then sing along with "I Raise a Hallelujah". May your heart be strengthened by the reminder that Jesus has provided a great rescue, and so regardless of our circumstances we can sing, knowing that victory is ultimately ours.
