Hello High Point + Welcome to Church!

Hello everyone and thanks for welcoming us into your home again this week. Today is an important day, as it is the annual day of prayer for the victims of human trafficking.

To those of you who regularly join with us in worship this way, I personally want to apologize for the delay in sending out this Church @ Home.

While we already gathered in our parking lot for an in-peron service this morning, we are happy to share the service again with you, so that you can worship 'with us' from the safety of your own space. We pray that this will be a meaningful time of connection with the Lord.

If you are new to High Point and just tuning in for the first time, welcome! We are glad that you have joined us and we pray that God will speak to you through our service. Simply follow along through the format below, clicking the links as you go.
Call to Worship

Read Luke 4, verses 16-21

As we begin to pray for those who are trapped in the bondage of human trafficking, we begin our worship by praising Christ for what he has done. As you read, look at how Jesus defines his ministry.
Sing "Here I am to Worship"

As you listen to the lyrics + sing along, may we begin our worship in authentic adoration of our God. He is the light who has come down to live among us and is truly worthy of our worship this day.

Read Psalm 31, verses 9-13

Allow the words of this Psalm to be our prayer today. Let these holy words be a lament for those who are currently trapped in the chains of human trafficking.
Sing "Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)"

As you listen to the lyrics + sing along, reflect on the fact that we serve a God who is a breaker of chains. May we pray that the amazing grace of God would be with those victims and survivors today.

Read Psalm 142

May we continue to pray the words of the Psalm today. Let these words be our cry today as we ask that those trapped find refuge in God today.
As we join in prayer let us intercede on behalf of the victims of human trafficking:

Dear God, we pray for victims of human trafficking … for those who have been dehumanized and held captive by the greed and violence of a broken world. For girls and boys, women and men, who are bought and sold and abused by those who have forgotten the eternal value of a human soul. May they rediscover their worth in You. And may we affirm their worth as individuals who are made in Your image.

Lord, reveal the way our choices may play a part in keeping others captives by creating demand for more slaves, and give us courage to make different choices. Give us eyes to see injustice and exploitation, and give us the courage to speak out against evil.

Use us to bring light into the darkened corners of this world, that they may not remain dark forever.

May Your light expose the evil deeds of the captors, and may Your love create a change of heart within those who are perpetrators of human trafficking.

Use us to loosen the chains of injustice and let the oppressed go free. We pray for an end to the evil that is human trafficking, and we pray that the victims of trafficking may find restoration and healing in You.
Listen to Lt. Josh's Sermon on "The Image of God" From Genesis 1
Reflection: Listen to "Open the Eyes of My Heart Lord"

After you have listened to the sermon, take a moment to listen to this song and reflect on the words. Ask Jesus to open our eyes to the reality of modern slavery and human trafficking and to see the image of God in everyone.

Community Prayer
Have a prayer request or praise report?
We would love to lift that up to the Father on your behalf!
Send it to us (email, text, or call) and we will be sure to remember you in prayer.
For our Benediction, join with us in praying this commitment prayer against human trafficking:

I hear the cries of daughters and sons beyond the dark, trafficked and enslaved for the profit of others. I stand with you.

I see the next generation of vulnerable children targeted for the benefit of worldly pleasures. I will fight for you.

I stand with frontline practitioners, advocating for the freedom of victims of oppression and walking alongside survivors. I acknowledge you.

I lament for the ways I have knowingly and unknowingly contributed to modern slavery and human trafficking through my ignorance, my privilege, and my spending power. I refuse to be blind.

May my prayers and those of your people turn into action as we fight against injustice together. We are not free until we all experience light.
