 Future Global Development Threat
A comprehensive new study published by the Public Library of Science finds that 20% of Earth's natural remaining ecosystems risk conversion to development over the next 35 years to meet the needs of the UN's projected 9.6 billion people by 2050.To highlight risk, researchers mapped the potential impact human growth will have on natural lands if development is left unchecked.

Overdevelopment, Overpopulation, Overshoot

Overdevelopment, Overpopulation, Overshoot — a powerful coffee table book— is a gorgeous compilation of information and inspiration produced by Population Media Center's Global Population Speak Out Campaign. Several copies have been distributed at population presentations. VP/Executive Director Clifford Garrard also presented one to Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, the Honourable Catherine McKenna, and plans to gift copies to selected Government ministers and other federal party leaders including the Prime Minister.

Words From the Wise

“Human population can no longer be allowed to grow in the same old uncontrolled way. If we do not take charge of our population size, then nature will do it for us.”

-PIC Patron Sir David Attenborough

PIC is the voice of Canadians concerned with overpopulation and its negative human and environmental impact. Founded in 1992, it campaigns to increase support for reproductive health and education, especially for women and girls, and for universal, voluntary access to family planning which the UN notes, "...could bring more benefits to more people at less cost than any other single technology available to the human race."

Fact: Continued global population growth, together with overconsumption, is incompatible with a healthy, sustainable future for humanity and the environment.
