These are photos I have just received from Baracoa, Cuba’s most easternmost city showing the great devastation form Hurricane Matthew.  They have had no power and many of the homes and buildings were destroyed and over 25,000 were evacuated and found this when they returned. The Friendship Association, (http://www.friendshipassociation.org/) an organization that has been working in Cuba will be the recipient of our fundraiser this Friday and Saturday exhibitions. Soledad Pagliuca from the Friendship Association will be on hand for these events.

Carlos will be traveling from his Bellafonte Art Museum exhibition in Pennyslvania.
He will share his and the the works of his father the great Cuban artist and teacher Jose Aguilera Vicente.
Carlos Rene has become one of the hot artists in Havana, but he lives in Santiago, Cuba and has just been honored with this amazing museum exhibition.
Carlos Rene has followed in his father's footprints in exploring new mediums.  This show will have his original paintings in acrylic as well as his waterless lithographs and digital art prints.

Carlos Rene Aguilera Tamayo will be sharing his works and the works of his father at this show.
Carlos has said that one of the focuses of my work is to define Utopia as the big issue for society.  He says the concerns still participate in the socially trans-formative eighties and we are still asking the same questions about man's destiny and dreams.
We will be raffling off works from the Nuance Cuba collection, a print of Carlos Rene Aguilera Tamayo and a painting by local artist Taylor Ikin to raise money to help the artists and others of Baracoa who have been affected by Hurricane Matthew.  Plus 20% of all sales will also go to this important work.  The financial help will go directly to the artists and people most hurt by this devastating storm.
Jose Aguilera Vicente who passed away in September 2014 was the 'father' of many of the city of Santiago artists with his guidance in his workshops and studio.  He painted, created sculptures and is well known for his woodblock prints. These were done in small editions and we are pleased to have several different pieces.
Jose Aguilera Vicente was part of the Meridian International Museum exhbitions that traveled the US for 4 years to 18 cities showing in museums, university libraries and art centers.
Nuance is excited to bring you this incredible exhibition of artists from Baracoa.  We will also be showing works from the rest of our Cuban Collection which has traveled to many museums and universities in the United States.
