Helpful Car Tips For Surviving Snow & Cold

Last week's snow may be in the rear view mirror but the season's early and more will  head our way.  In this issue we share  our best suggestions for driving in snowy conditions.

This fall we gave our website a head-to-toes makeover. The new site includes a "Request An Appointment" button so you can easily schedule appointments. The "Car Care Tips" section is full of informative articles. If you are dropping a car off you can save time by printing off and filling out our "24 Hour Vehicle Drop Off Form," at home.

We wish you and your families a happy and healthful Thanksgiving. Among the many things we are giving thanks for this year, are you, our wonderful customers.

Car Tips When It's Snowing and Cold

  1. Keep snow off your side view mirrors with plastic newspaper bags.
  2. When snow is coming pull up your windshield wipers to keep them from freezing to the windshield. (Only do this in areas where your car is safely parked. We've had reports of blades snapped off in areas around campus.)
  3.  Car covered in snow? Use one of Brad's favorite winter tools, the car snow brush, to quickly clean off your car.
  4. We are intrigued by a new product on the market, The Auto Sock, which can be used instead of chains or when you need extra traction on snowy roads.
  5. Remember, 4-wheel drive vehicles slide just as easily as front-wheel drives cars in icy conditions.
  6. Consider snow tires if you drive frequently in snowy conditions. This video demonstrates the many safety advantages of snow tires.
  7. If your car is covered in snow your driveway and sidewalks probably are too. Check out this Popular Mechanics article for tips on the best way to shovel. Your car will appreciate that the article suggests cleaning the car off first!
