There will be information about a variety of different solutions, activities, and organizations, as well as things you can do right now like sign a petition or say a prayer for the planet.
The Biodiversity Ball
June 27th, 8pm
Brooklyn (RSVP for location)
The Brooklyn Renaissance Team is throwing a costume ball at the Xoomba Loft celebrating all life on Earth. This musical, visual, sensory extravaganza is a call to action to promote the biodiversity that makes this planet more fun than any other we know.
Expand your awareness of social & environmental hot topics while sipping on fresh green juice, relaxing in the black light algae lounge, or dancing to live music. Performances, herbal elixirs, dialogues, installations and body art: this is a celebration of each and every creature that makes up the biologically diverse family here on earth. All of this will be enjoyed at our inspiring rooftop loft with views of Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Costumes representing some aspect of the natural world are strongly encouraged. Suggestions: wildlife, exotic birds, creatures from the deep, forest critters, tree-huggers and mythical beasts. Those arriving without costume will be ushered to the algae lounge to illuminate their presence with black-light body paint.
A focus of this party is to energetically gear up for the global Climate Talks in Paris this December (COP 21) This is a year we can all come together and make a big difference. Starting November 30th 2015, global leaders will gather to set the environmental standards that will make or break the planet. On June 29th, the UN is holding meetings to prepare for December. Lets show the world we care and glorify the biodiversity we still enjoy!
