Tēnā koutou katoa,
Wow, we’re nearly half way through our last term. I don’t know about you, but time and months and memories just seem a total jumble this year to me. We’re busy making every day count right now and packing in as much learning and as many great experiences as we can.
We have two lovely new LSAs (Learning Support Assistants) who have started with us this week.
Krista Fortzer-Bezar is an AUT graduate who comes to us from the Wilson Centre special school and has a passion for working with learners with diverse needs.
Lynette Petry is known to many of us as her twin daughters Jade and Tyler were part of our UHPS whanau. Lynette was an active part of our community as a school parent and is looking forward to joining the LSA team.
In 2021 we will also welcome two new teachers to our staff. Karen Seth currently teaches at Pinehill School and brings a wealth of experience. Jackie Van Erven has recently completed her teacher training and is excited to be joining the team.
Some lovely feedback
This email arrived in my inbox last week and brought a big smile.
"Nothing too major but I just wanted to let you know that while making afternoon tea yesterday, there were a group of kids in the hall practicing for athletics. The kids in the hall were super amazing. I could hear them cheering their peers on. Things like ''good try'' ''try again'' ''I think you can do it next time'' & ''you were so close''. It really was amazing to hear I thought I'd just let you know (I'm sure you already know this) how amazing & awesome Upper Harbour kids are. Not one kid laughing at failed attempts or making fun of each other." Leanie Thompsett
Stay well everyone,
