Tēnā koutou katoa,
It’s all go here at school as we make our way to the end of the year. Today was supposed to have been the Junior Athletics but unfortunately we’ve had to postpone it to Friday because of the weather. Our Year 6 children are having their Positive Puberty sessions today, delivered by Nest Consulting. The parent session on Monday was well-received and we are all confident that the children will be receiving age appropriate, sensitive information as they begin their journey through this tricky time in life.
Staff News
We have some more staffing news for you for 2021.
We will be bidding farewell to Dave McCarthy, one of our current Year 5/6 teachers. Dave came to us from Canada and we have loved playing our part in his NZ experience. Dave has brought energy and enthusiasm and a love of the outdoors and we will miss him as he returns to Canada in 2021.
We will also say goodbye to Hannah Ravey. Hannah has been an integration aide within our team of LSAs (Learning Support Assistants). Hannah joined us from the UK and brought a wealth of experience. She will be returning to the UK to be closer to her family and we wish her all the very best.
Sally Baik, one of our current Year 5/6 teachers is taking leave during 2021 to complete further study and will be back for 2022. We wish her well and look forward to seeing her again.
Many of you will have children who have been taught by Diane McLay. Diane has been at the school for many years and her curiosity for learners and learning has never waned. Next year, Diane has decided to reduce her hours and will be providing release cover around the school.
