Keeping Ourselves Safe
This term we will be teaching the units from the personal safety programme – Keeping Ourselves Safe (KOS). KOS has been designed to give children the skills to cope in situations where there may be abuse or potential abuse. This programme is taught throughout New Zealand as part of the health curriculum.
The programme has three overall aims:
To develop and strengthen children’s skills to keep themselves safe with other people;
To support and encourage abused children to get help from caring adults;
To make teachers and parents more aware of the need to keep children safe from abuse by adults or other adults or other children.
The KOS units will be taught by your child’s teacher with help from our local police education officer as required. Further information will follow during the term.
If you would like more detailed information in the meantime please follow the link below.
KOS Information for parents 2019
“Upper Harbour Local Board is preparing a local parks management plan to help it with the future management of local parks and reserves. The Upper Harbour Local Parks Management Plan will reflect what residents value about their parks now, and how they use them. It will also identify issues that should be considered as parks are managed and developed in the future, to make sure they meet the needs of future generations. This public consultation is open until 7 August. We will then draft the plan and release it for further consultation in early 2020. Please visit aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/loveyourparks
to tell us what you love about parks now, and how you’d like to use them in the future.”
