The Grass is Greener: Proper Care of Lawns and Landscaping

posted by W.B. King, The South Florida Cooperator, April 2014

While South Floridians do not have to brave the chilly, barren winters of more northerly environs, in many respects it’s more difficult to maintain a lush lawn year-round than it is to plant more seasonally in a varied climate. May Tips

Keith's Corner: Landscaping
Hello, South Florida residents! May brings us warmer temperatures, and warmer temperatures mean it’s time to start planting your favorite warm-weather plants. With the winter season being over, make sure you clear any dead, unwanted plants before you begin planting new plants. If you do not get rid of this dead material, any new seed or fertilizer will sit on top, instead of seeping into the soil. Look around your landscape and determine what areas you can “brighten up.” Bougainvilleas are always a nice addition to any landscape, and they can be purchased in a variety of colors.

As always, remember to install your sod green side up!
