The Western Cape Department of Health together with the PMHP, has developed a Maternity Booklet, as well as a leaflet for health workers emphasizing self-care strategies and other resource material.

Ashoka Fellow

After a stringent selection process, Simone Honikman, the PMHP director, has been awarded a prestigious Ashoka fellowship. Ashoka is US-based and is the largest network of social entrepreneurs worldwide.

Impumelelo Health-Care Summit

In March, an inter-sectoral audience at University of Stellenbosch Business School heard from innovators who have creatively managed to address a range of health challenges affecting South Africa. 

The PMHP was given the opportunity to present to the closing panel and was inundated with requests for further information, consultation and support from non-governmental organisations as well as from representatives of the Department of Health.

Prime Annual Meeting in Nepal 

In April, the Nepali PRIME (Programme for Improving Mental Health Care) team hosted the very successful annual meeting of this research consortium in Kathmandu.

The PMHP Director, Simone Honikman, presented a cross-country synthesis of maternal mental health components of the country Mental Health Care Plans. She provided targeted suggestions for the implementation, evaluation and scale-up phases over the next few years.
