Training in the Eastern Cape

In collaboration with the Small Projects Foundation (SPF), we are training supervisors and trainers of Community Care Workers (CCW) in the Eastern Cape.

The aim is for this group to train and supervise CCW’s across a large area of this rural province to identify, counsel and refer mothers with common mental health problems.

The Maternal Mental Health handbook forms part of the curriculum.

Godfrey the gardener

Meet Godfrey, the gardener at our Hanover Park service site. He has built and loved our garden since it was a sand pit at the launch in 2012. Since then, the garden has become an oasis, and a favourite among the nurses and staff for their lunch breaks.

Godfrey Abrahams has lived all his life in Hanover Park and is very active in his community.

We collaborated with Prof Sue Fawcus, head of Obstetrics at Mowbray Maternity Hospital, to write about the scope and reason for the problem as well as potential solutions.
