Alpha Gam Summer Update 2012

Theta Tau Chapter at Alpha Gamma Delta International Convention 2012 in St. Louis, MO
(L-R) Katie Tierney (VP Member Development), Brianna Howard (VP Recruitment),
Maddie Roberts (President), Miranda Weik (VP Scholarship), Kelsey White (VP Finance)

Letter From The President

Dear Sisters,

I hope everyone is enjoying summer! In just a few weeks, we will be accepting more women into our sisterhood. I couldn't be more excited to meet our new baby squirrels, and I hope everyone is refreshed and ready to work hard on what is shaping up to be our largest recruitment yet!

It was my great pleasure to represent the Theta Tau chapter at the 2012 Alpha Gamma Delta International Convention this past week along with Katie Tierney, Miranda Weik, Brianna Howard, Kelsey White, and 4 of our advisors. We traveled to St. Louis, MO to meet Alpha Gams from all over the country (and Canada!) and to learn even more ways to develop our incredible chapter. Theta Tau received 3 of the fraternity's highest achievements - Jewel Chapter Status for substantial donations to the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation, Strive for Pi for reaching a chapter GPA over 3.14 (3.34 to be exact!), and 5 Stars for Excellence in Leadership, Membership, Sisterhood, Scholarship, and Philanthropy. Congrats for being fantastic!

One of the biggest lessons we learned throughout the week is that Alpha Gamma Delta extends past graduation. To quote one of the Feast of Roses speakers, our alumnae life consists of much more than "having more Alpha Gam babies". The values of personal development, leadership, philanthropy, and sisterhood will continue to apply to our lives in the workplace and in our future relationships. This year, our seniors will be able to focus on alumnae life and Alpha Gam's countless post-grad benefits through a revamped and specialized Delta experience - get excited! Along with Delta experience, we'll be updating chapter programming for all members to ensure an exciting, beneficial college experience.
I hope that you enjoy our first chapter newsletter! The intent is to keep everyone updated on fellow sisters' achievements, as well as general chapter updates. Let me know what you think, and I can't wait to see everyone in August!

All my love,

Maddie Roberts

Lessons Learned at UIFI

Two sisters attended the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute this Summer, where they were provided with invaluable opportunities to explore and develop their leadership skills and commitment to Alpha Gamma Delta.

"What you permit, you promote."

"Learn it. Live it. Teach it. Expect it."

"UIFI was the most influential experience I have had while being in Alpha Gamma Delta.
Not only did I learn how to apply everything Alpha Gam stands for to my everyday life,
but I also learned that it is imperative to act on those values and teach others to do the same.
UIFI woke me up to what Greek Life can be, and I know that I won't settle until my chapter and
my Greek community at Belmont are holding up to the ideals that Greek life was created around."
