Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
The Global Concerns Trust would like to thank you for your support throughout the year, and wish you a happy festive season!
We celebrated our 20th anniversary this year, and we have been as busy as ever! In April, we completed a 3 year project in Malawi, through which 129 adults with disabilities have been given the tools and training needed to start businesses in tailoring, carpentry and cane furniture making. Project manager Emma was able to meet a large number of these graduates when she visited Malawi in September, witnessing the huge impact the project has had upon their lives.
We were also delighted to be able to welcome George Chimpiko, founder and director of our partner KODO, to Scotland. George has worked for many years to help fellow people with disabilities in Salima, by providing vocational training and disability aids. We have been lucky enough to be able to visit KODO many times since the start of our partnership with them in 2009, but this was the first time that George was able to come to meet us in Scotland and visit all the workshops here where the tools and sewing machines are refurbished by volunteers, before being shipped to Malawi. For the volunteers it was certainly inspirational to hear George talk about the difference that their tools and sewing machines are making.

In November, we celebrated our 20th anniversary in Edinburgh with a fantastic evening of African music, delicious food and wonderful stories. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us that evening, and to everyone who has been able to support us in 2016, we raised over £2,700! We look forward to your continued support next year!
