3rd Regular Meeting of the National Council on Communication Technology 2014
Some Board Members and staff of NiRA were at the Third (3rd) meeting of the National Council on Communication Technology (NCCT). The event held in Yenogoa, Bayelsa State from 11th to 16th September, 2014 under the Chairmanship of the Hon. Minister of Communication Dr. (Mrs.) Omobola Johnson. The Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, H.E RT. Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, who was represented by the State Deputy Governor, declared the Council meeting opened on the 15th September 2014. The theme of the meeting was “Mainstreaming ICT In National Development moving from Talk to Action”. The council meeting was preceded by a 2-day meeting of technical officials on the 11th and 12th September 2014 under the Chairmanship of the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Communication Technology, Dr. Tunji Olaopa.

 
At the event were State Commissioners, Special Advisers, Directors-General, Directors and Officials of ICT, Science and Technology from 22 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Also present were Directors and representatives of Federal Ministries and Departments, Heads of various Parastatals, ICT Directorates/Agencies, Private Sector/Industry representatives, representatives of Professionals Associations such as Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Association of Licensed Telecom Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), Computer Professional Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN), Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA) and other Stakeholders. READ MORE

AFRINIC Board of Directors Announces Departure of AFRINIC CEO Adiel A. Akplogan

Badru Ntege, the Chairman of AFRINIC's Board, has announced that AFRINIC’s founding CEO, Mr. Adiel A. Akplogan, will be leaving his position on 31st January 2015. AFRINIC Board of Directors will launch a CEO search process that will culminate in the appointment of a new CEO as soon as possible. Mr. Badru Ntege commented that all measures will be taken to ensure a smooth transition including business continuity. AFRINIC launches New Version of WHOIS
AFRINIC has deployed a code for its WHOIS database, WHOIS 2.0 (v 1.73), a fully IPv6 compatible and implemented two policies, which would contribute greatly to the management of Internet Number Resources in Africa. Please Read More
NCS Holds National IT Merit Awards 2014

Nigeria Computer Society has announced its plans to reward and celebrate excellence and outstanding contributions in Nigeria’s Information Technology (IT) space.
