So… this email is a bit over due, but for good reasons. We have been working on the farm website… www.wintersgrassfarm.com to get it set up so that we can now except orders online! We don’t have the payment processor set up yet, so we are not taking payments online currently, that will be coming soon. However! If you are interested in reserving a quarter, half, whole beef cow, or any of the other smaller beef bundles, you can now place your order through the website! No need to print out and snail mail an order form anymore! Because the payment processor is not yet set up I am not requiring a down payment for beef orders this year. Simply select what you want, choose either spring or fall beef if you are getting a quarter, half, or whole cow, then fill out the relevant information and place your order! I’m hoping this will help make things simpler and easier for you!
Growing the best Grassfed Beef
One thing we have found to greatly improve the quality of grassfed beef is to only send cows to the butcher that have been grazing on spring and summer grass. The beef has more flavor and is more tender due to the cows fattening up on the rich lush grass. Just like the best milk comes from cows grazing on the fast growing spring grass, I think we can get some the best finished beef after they have been fattened on the same spring grass. Because of that we have been moving away from late fall butchering and towards several summer butcher dates.
Spring Beef will be going to the butcher June 5th and will be ready June 24th for pickup here at WintersGrass Farm. Limited number available.
Fall Beef will be going to the butcher September 28 and ready for pickup October 7th here at WintersGrass farm
