A Musical (and Educational)

Midsummer Night's Dream?

Welcome to the June 2018 edition of the Yorkshire Youth & Music bulletin.

First of all, a bit of business from us, folks. If you haven't yet seen our email about GDPR, the data protection laws for the UK have changed. As a consequence, we have updated our data and privacy policy.

If you have any queries about your data, what we use it for and how long we keep it, please feel free to get in touch with us at dataprivacy@yym.org.uk.

OK, business over, folks. On to this month's enticing theme! Are you ready for a little night music?

Because the 21st June marks the shortest night of the year, we are celebrating all things night time with this month's newsletter. I could go on all day and all of the night, but I'll spare you, folks. To help you through the night, here's the June summary:

Let's be more than strangers in the night... we want to know more about your news, so please send it to us via facebook, twitter or news@yym.org.uk.

Wishing you clear (night) skies,

Rebeka

Yorkshire Youth & Music News
New resource pack for people working with children with SEND – COMING SOON!

Here at YY&M, we’ve been working with children with SEND for many years (SEND is short for special educational needs and disabilities).

We use all kinds of musical equipment with these children – from guitars to DJ controllers, voices to iPads. We've got lots of experience to share in this area, so we’re commissioning a BRAND NEW resource pack for teachers, with good practice guidance for working with music with children with SEND.

To find out more, please click here

The Singing & Signing Space
In honour of our continuing work with Deaf and Hearing Impaired (DHI) children, we are sharing our resources with you for FREE, one per month for the next 12 months, in our Singing & Signing Space.

This month's resource is another signed song called 'Down in the Jungle', appropriate for YOUR primary school choir. If you haven't tried singing and signing yet and you don't know where to start, please get in touch with us and we can point you in the right direction. A good place to begin is our YouTube channel where we host a new signed song each month.

Otherwise, here's this month's song, signed by Paul Whittaker OBE.

What am I?
